Lauren H. Poem
There’s an elephant in the room
He lets me know not to assume
He fast forwards, determining fate
He rewinds, finding the faulty gate
He can see me but I can’t see him
He can see the wick burning dim
I am an imposter of this person called me
I know he knows what isn’t honesty
This elephant has taken control
Hands on the reigns he has taken his toll
I lay restless upon this darkened hour
Stripped of my already lifeless power

Lauren H. Poem
In the quiet of the night,
Are the most restless hours
I feel the shadows upon me,
They watch over me like towers
I hear many times to never regret,
Yet I feel this way out of fright
It consumes my body, mind and soul,
I soon lose my sense of sight
If I had known that this was destiny,
I would have selected another path
Opting to run and look back rarely,
For I might find sin and wrath

Lauren H. Poem
Shackles on their wrists,
Bowing down with clenched fists
A battle for the ages,
A war with seldom wages
A fight that need not be fought,
Yet pain and suffering is what was taught
We see hurt in a soldier’s eyes
As we sing them their final lullabies
Goodbye forever, we knew you not by name
Though this fate of yours will soon be your fame
