My World

Black, Latino, and Anglo Saxon
Together as one, my paradise
No animosity, just relaxin’
Free at last, No! Free from the beginning
Words never spoke that’s not our way of living
Sunshine’s and a cool breeze
Respect and a helping hand to the elderly
Thank you’s and yes please
The language of the kiddies
Families in tact, no upper
Lower or middle class
War????
Not in the vocab
Science for advancement
Not the foundation for a meth lab
Smiles not frowns
Giggles
Innocence
God speaks
Natures sounds.
No tension
No disease
No fee to live
In our world of ease
Come sit with me Carol
In the sunshine and the cool breeze

Material Girl

Her materialism
can not fade my material
what it boils down to
is heart measures people
soul should be ones
soul possession
everything else
considered a blesin'
so next time you look in the mirror
ponder this question
why do you look down on those
you depict as less fortunate?
without all your worldly possessions
you ain't got sh@%
All your overpriced boots
purses, jewelry from Tiffany
has transformed you
into the epitome
of what makes people
look at each other differently
poisoned have you
our world
your kind
always trying to redefine
gods law
that all are created equal
so unless your the sequel
to the resurrection
the only one you need judge
is..... self
find some real sense of direction

Mothers Betrayal

as i look into my eyes
i slip into a black abyss
all i know is we're apart
so i just reminisce
I see your face in my mind
when i shut my eyes
lay, wake, night after night
visions of you and i
she built a wall
but i stand tall
she never contemplated
that my love for you
my life, my world
could not be jaded
the time will come someday
and then you'll see the truth in me
just me for me
how it was she
divided us
one by one
and made us three.....

Advice To Remy My Newborn Son

If you can talk without ever making a noise
and you can listen without ever needing to hear a sound
And you can see without ever opening your eyes

You can be anything that you dare to dream

You see my son

Once you can look inside yourself you will have sight
And once you can listen to your heart you will truly hear
And your life will speak to others without you ever having to say a word….

Now open your eyes and live that dream....

Nicole

With a simple glance
She stole my heart
Subsided all my fears
And granted me serenity
Through the most joyous of tears

Stormy southern night
Wine induced conversation
Thunder coincided with
The beats of my heart
In which she breathed new life

Illuminating the night
Each flash of lightning
Slowly revealed her
Each and every part

It was in this moment
I saw life imitate art
And with a simple glance
She stole my heart…

Co Dependant

he'd put his foot in his mouth before he'd swallow his pride,
fed from the silver spoon, though his plate is full, they pour
sympathy from their pockets, till his cup runneth over, he's
bit off more than he can chew, but a taste of reality he has
yet to sample, champagne taste, not even a beer budget,
his pallet developed, by the fruits of their labor, thirst never
quenched, appetite never satisfied, he bites the hand that
feeds him, now a glutton for the toxins, still they help
wash them down with a spoonful of sugar, sweetened just enough
to mach an antidote, his last supper is in the offing,
and together they set the table.....

Snapshots

secluded to my darkroom,
a roladex filled with
years of negatives,
an ambient light
illumination failed
transparent,
focus lost,
exposure.....

In the foreground
I found depth
through perception,
develop contrast
light and dark
now shutter in harmony,
my composition.....

mere snapshots in our mind
but to me a single canvas
that depicts two
lifetimes

The Sequoia

oh! how the winter wind howls
- like coyotes in the cold of night
at the seemingly solitaire pale moon
set high above
in the black velvet sea,
holding the twinkles from wishes

standing tall - proud
the mighty sequoia
does not waver in its
most monstrous of gusts
but instead rises,
and reaches for the majestic gem

Shinedown

Goddess of night
Oh! Raven
Of elder forest
Swoop down from your totem
Take me under your black wings

Fly me into the darkness
Desolate
Isolation
Enter me into oblivion

Rest me in the heavens
To shine back down
On those I leave

Illuminating
The night
For all to look up at
And believe

The King and I

As I ventured through the jungle I came across the mighty Lion
Side by side we journeyed all the while I was tryin’
To become a man, and walk alone, compose myself stand tall
But the kings the king and like a parachute he slowed my fall
Still fall I did and fell again, this burden trend
Recurrence feels to have no end….

Now deep in the jungle to prevent any rumble
I suggested to his majesty it’d be best if we part ways
But if our paths should cross again amidst this endless haze
Then hand and hand we’d walk again in search of the open plains
To find his pride, my peace of mind, now lost in thought, nearly forgot
Who I am, what I was, whom I still long to be
A king of a domain, inhabited by only 3…

On through the night,
By the pale moon light
A gauntlet sea of trees
The brush that I secluded to
Now held me away from me
As fear set in, I then realized
This king disguised as my jungle guide
Was leading me to my demise
Self devised, a false icon my mind derived

Blurred no more
I step out from the fog
The clearing revealed
Within myself no longer concealed
Out from the shadows
Emerged my angel
I feel the warmth rush over my soul
At peace my world is whole

This quest complete
My stars aligned
All as it should be
Domain…. Now
Life
My wife
The gift we call REMY…..
