Dear Cactus

Dear Cactus, understood I your real worth,
While shielding you from disdain’s cruel mirth.
On the plant rack, I placed you so low,
Just to save you from eyes that do not know.
Running from thorns, can we possibly dare?
Denying truths that we can hardly bear.
As water sprinkled and fell on your prickly form,
You soaked up and grew slow, far from the norm.

But with time you’ve sprouted strong and free,
Yet labelled by some as a wretched misery!
In dirt and scorching heat, you proudly rise,
With a spark of endurance in your unyielding eyes.

Resilient and tall under the wildly sunny sky,
Teaching lessons to one and all as time goes by.
As thorns linger, we are sure to find,
Growth and adversity gleefully intertwined.

Delightful Kites

Have you ever thought of flying a kite?
A crazy dancing hueful delight.
You don't just need a bridle and a spool,
But an impeccable foresight as a rule.

Pick up a kite that is sturdy and correct size,
Then check the trees and power lines as an exercise.
East or West, what is the wind direction?
The wind speed too calls for a circumspection!

Launch your kite with meticulous care,
Enjoyment will be the heartbeat of the affair.
Each loop, twirl, rise or dive is a choreography grand,
Crafted by skill as your dreams take a stand.

Valentine: A Journey from My Other Half to My Self

In the BEGINNING, at the surface, we both met,
Two strangers, excited and uncertain, yet to set.
Down the memory lane, doubts manifold did GROW,
Knowing not how we’d together learn and know.

Through seven years our journey before us unfurled,
From infancy to youth as the coil of time curled.
Crafted with CRESTS and troughs were the weeks and days,
And you showed me my good and ugly parts lost in a MAZE.

I had asked my adolescent dreams to spin me such a soul
That completes me and becomes my true WHOLE.
But you came and saw my happy, angry and restless sighs,
And dug out my FRAGMENTS under the clear skies.

I fail to ascertain if you are a friend, lover or foe,
In musing about VALENTINE, feelings seem to plateau.
I pondered intensely what a mate, a lover, an other half is,
He is a reflection of the level of fullness within, the inner bliss.

Love truly is not in sweet cuddles, romance and gifts
It is one’s core building block, an experience WITHIN that lifts.
Through you my love, I heal the broken pieces inside me,
In our bond unbreakable, you are a MIRROR forever to be.

Dance of Love

As evening beckons the Sun to take a calm repose,
Sweethearts to the horizon ascend as does the silvery Moon.
To exchange kisses and vows with the ones they chose.
The lovelorns sit and hum a soft, woeful croon,
But sands of time like giant balls roll away; why stay morose?
As the Moon fades, the Sun serenades; “love” dances to the tune!
