Matena Snegirev Poem
It’s hard this battle I fight inside myself
Not knowing who I am anymore
Emotions and feelings constantly racing through me
But I can’t express myself as I did before
Sleepless nights with thoughts of when I lost myself
Trying hard to pinpoint when it all went wrong
Memories of my happiness are slowly fading
This confusion has been around far too long
Looking in the mirror is pointless
When you don’t recognize the person that you see
Staring so long into my own eyes
Hoping to catch a glimpse of who is, was me..

Cut out my heart
Watch me slowly bleed
Take my eyes
So I can never again see
Take my tongue
So I can never again talk
Take my legs
So I can never again walk
Take my freedom
Lock me in a cell
Take away my soul
So my eternity will be in hell
Take away anything you want from me
I’m strong enough to make it through
There’s only one thing I will die without
It is you.
