Disappointed

I always kept my dreams buried deep within,
Making sure hope was meticulously protected by skin
But you chiseled your way in
and showed me what could have been
So now all i'm left with, is having to take it on the chin

I was okay, you know?
With my incandescent glow.
Before you convinced me that no,
That is not so!
And now that feels like a lifetime ago

You left me feeling disjointed
Maybe a little exploited
O how I wish I could have avoided
Feeling this disappointed

Final No

This moment will pass,
As all before have too,
And it will be clear as glass
That deep down I always knew.

Your walls were painted bright,
And beckoned me in.
Though, something didn't feel quite right
So I kept my thick skin.

Over and over, you toyed with my heart,
Only when I’d be ready to let go,
Would you propose we restart-
So much so, I thought there'd be no final no.

I hope your filled with regret,
Now that you're gone.
They say ‘you're only as good as you get,’
So, it's time to move on.

There'll be no more what if’s,
Or trying one last time.
I'm done with your quips-
I’ll show you just how high I can climb.

The View From My Balcony

Oh, how i wish you could see,
The view from my balcony,
That is amassed with gentle swaying trees,
And the occasional hum of honey bees.

Down the long winding path,
Little children playfully dance,
Practicing their form and stance,
Far from their mothers protective glance.

Young lovers absent-mindedly clasp hands,
Strolling along with their heavy school bags,
Looking out at the great green expanse,
Forgetting the rest of their day's plans.

As the sun shifts and begins to set
The birds squawk and screech as they begin to fret,
Pleading to their light “no not yet!”
“The day's needs have still not been met!”

Oh how I wish you could see the view from this height,
It's vastness and colours are truly a sight,
Being forever drenched in all its abundant light,
It is my joyful respite.

In the depths of your eyes

If i were to bathe in the depths of your eyes,
would you promise to catch me before I drown?
For I am helpless against your alluring gaze,
that pierces straight through my shallow heart,
blinding me to the currents of my soul,
rippling eternally on destiny's shore.

Beach

You are the soft brown-sugar sand beneath my feet.

You are the lulls of the rhythmic ocean waves.

You are the glistening diamonds dotted on the water's surface.

You are the sunshine that blankets my body.

You are the clarity amongst the chaos.

You are the prophet to the poor.

You are the body's playground.

You are the souls respite.

I am but your disciple,

Humbled in your awe.

Water

She quenches our thirst, cleanses our bodies and soothes our soul.

She nurtures our crops so that we may sleep with full bellies.

Ever accommodating, she gracefully manoeuvres herself to fill all empty spaces.

Nimbly seeping through gaps, there can be no secrets when she is around.

But keep tamed your arrogance for her calming humility should not be mistaken for frailty.

Ferocious is her might and steady is her will.

She will rain down on you from the heavens to remind you of her glory.

She is the elixir of life.

She is water.

mesmerizing the moon

If the stars could speak,
They would speak of only your light,
How it dips and peaks ,
In its celestial respite.

If the stars could wonder,
They would wonder of only your touch,
How it echoes like thunder,
And causes Saturn to blush.

If the stars could bleed,
They would bleed for only your dreams,
That call to anguish the pleads,
Of Venus to Mercury.

If the stars could dance,
They would dance to only your tune,
And be locked forever in your trance,
That mesmerizes the moon,

The best me

Was my past
The best I'll ever be?
But it ended so fast,
You hardly got to know me.

Maybe my youth
Was my best trait.
But that's a damning truth,
And and the cruelest of fates.

Was it my naivety then
That made me shine so bright?
All the way back when
I hadn’t felt the darkness of night.

I should've soaked in the scene
When I was still at the top
Maybe I would've seen,
It's a long way to drop

Now all that I do,
Is hope I’ll go back.
But with all I've been through,
I'm afraid now there's too many cracks.

My Day

I hate that your attention
has the power
to make or break
my day.
