A Bird On a Tree

It started with a tree
Then came a blue bird
Blue from worrying and doubting
It sad on a branch
Alone on that tree the bird waited
What it waited for?
Not even the bird knows
Alone on that tree the bird sings a sad song
Then comes a songbird and a small bird
They sit on the branch
Join in with the bird song
The blue bird is now green
Green because they feel like they belong
Together they sing a sweet song
The small bird flies away to find a new tree
The same tune that was sung before
Suddenly seems dull…
Then comes a firebird and a bird that loves to chirp
They sit on the same branch
And join in with the bird song
The bird is now yellow
Yellow happiness, smiles and laughter
Together they sing cheerful song
Then comes a robin
They sit on the same branch
And join in with the bird song
The bird is now orange
Orange from sparkles of hope
Together they all sing a harmonious song
Together they stay
On that same branch
One day the songbird
Brings a few more birds to the tree
The fire bird brings a few more birds too
The bird goes a shade of grey
With more birds on the tree
All singly bird song and chirping loudly
No one notices when
The grey bird sings quieter
And quieter
And quieter
The grey bird is grey from feeling dull
From feeling like they don’t belong
From questioning if this is the tree for them
From sitting on the same tree but never the same branch
From always just standing there but never actually saying anything
Never actually feeling like there ever truly there
Anymore…
There song not as cheerful or as loud
As before
They think if they try to sing loud
there song will just be drowned out by others
So they don’t even try
There not the same as before
Their hearts not as full
Their chirps are not as loud
Their smile not as often
Their laughter barely ever heard
Their self esteem not as high
The list goes on

This poem isn’t about birds

Inner Beauty

Dirty, matted fur, with clumps missing

Black fur, but looks brown form mud

This stray cat has had a hard life

Thrown out by it owners

Abandoned on the streets

Lost more fights then she can count

This stray cat has had a hard life

No place to call home

No food to satisfy her huger

No water to quench her thirst

This stray cat has had a hard life

One day this black cat

Meets a white, a white cat

The most beautiful cat she had ever seen

This stray cat wants nothing more than to fit in

The black cat wishes to change

She wants to be like the white cat

She jumps into a bucket of white paint

This stray cat wants nothing more than to fit in

Now with fur white as snow

Fur sticking up on all sides

With the stench of paint

This stray cat wants nothing more than to fit in

The white cat approaches

With her eyes flooded with concern

She gesture for the black cat to follow her

This stray cat wants nothing more than to fit in

The white cat takes her to a pond

The black cat is nervous

She thinks without the paint she is ugly

This stray cat wants nothing more than to fit in

The white cat looks her in her eyes

And says "you are perfect just the way you are"

The black cat gets in the pond

Her fun now black again

The white looks the black cat in the eye

And says confidently

"your fur is black as night"

"our eyes are like artic pool"

"they sparkle like a diamond"

"and they shine like the moon"

"you are beautiful on the inside"

"and that is all that matter"

"i see your inner beauty"

"and if they can't see it"

"then they are blind"

This stray cat has had a hard life

But still she smiles like she nothing happened

This stray cat used to want nothing more than to fit in

This stay cat does not care what you think

So don't even try

This stray cat is perfect just the way they are

And if you can't your blind

delusional

A wild green mass

Full of flowers and butterfly's

Full trees, bushes and grass

But then it all dies

A dark, lost world

Polluted beyond repair

A broken underworld

Its sure to give you a scare

The plants all died

They didn't stand a chance

There leaves are brown and dried

Flower petals no longer dance

The world was once beautiful

But some human where delusional

Just Let Me Stay Here

Stars in the sky
Are always to high
For me to reach

Waves on a beach
Wash away my doubt
Lets my confidence sprout

Rivers sweep away anxiety
They give you a break from society
The churning water a secret lullaby

Waterfalls as they cry
Usher your not alone
That your not on your own

Colours that bleed from a a sunset sky
As the sun bids goodbye
Melt away my fear

Oh please just let me stay here
Here I can smile
Forget about my worries for a while

Too Late

A 5-year old girl laughs and plays
A loving mother cooks her daughters meal
A kind a farther works hard to earn money

It only took an instant to start
2 minutes to spread
20 minutes to take everything

The firetruck didn't get there in time
They couldn't save the house
They couldn't save her

It started from a faulty stove
There was no where to run
No where to hide

The flames devoured everything
By a miracle she escaped
But now she has no home
And she has no mother

The rain sprinkled down
Too little, too late
She was gone
There was no replacing the holes in their hearts

I'm not okay

Fly free
But not to me

I'm not your destiny
You don't need me

Your happier there
You say i don't care

You shouldn't stay
Because I'm not okay
