An Atheist's Mind

When I tie the noose,
will you stop me from defying gravity,
perhaps I shall hold my own hands whilst I try to descend high above the ground,
and maybe when I fail, I'll put a  call through  to 911,  the pastor and the parson as I lay on the floor bleeding from the conk after the fall,
will you put my splatted brain back in the right place,
or after the h²o I inhale, i could lock my fingers on my chest and press and press and press and press and press,
then I tilt my head back and give myself the kiss of life so I may egest  the  thing in which i pray brings my end,
can you save me then?,
how would you save me then?,
they talk a big game when it comes to the love you share,
but from the look of things i see how little you care,
pages and pages of words that cause nothing but fear,
i have too many questions and many different answers,
I'm sorry but I cannot comprehend
you promise a life of abundance but then again I see many of your followers living like pigs in a pen,
I cannot compromise a life that is already unfair to play eni mini mani mo , which god should I choose to know
and I would not be forced to apologise,
I would not be forced to apologise,
apologise because I refuse to be confused,
I refuse to be cajoled ,
I refuse to be duped
I've seen the promises you've made to your peoples,
promises of love, life ,fulfilment, greatness
but which one do I pick,
which one is the right one,
which one rolls a double six,
because I want that, I want it all, the happiness, the joy, the love
I want it all, is it too much to ask that you be direct,
come to me here and now and show yourself,
show me you are worth the gamble,
whenever you are ready ,you know where to find me,
where you supposedly made me to be.

Ptsd

This is the story of a soldier,
one that swore his life and gave it all,
hold tight for this rollercoaster,
I can all ready hear you bawl.

You should have seen their joy,
he and his fellow belligerents where easy gulls,
there was no need for a decoy,
there were smiles everywhere and then there was a bullet to her skull.

He could have been a purple heart but his wounds weren't physical,
he got home alive and well but so they thought,
he would lay in bed dreaming about his previous obstacle,
his screaming at night they thought would be the worst.

They should have hidden his gun,
and in a blink of an eye another one was gone.

Keep Me Cages

They told me but I wouldn't listen,
I could've sworn to the heavens that i was never tripping,
i am not one to kiss and tell but from this kiss I can tell,
your embrace still feels warm,
even as I struggle your love still remains strong,
as firm as you hold my hand,
I feel through the bruises your affection,
when you are around everything in me falls,
my heartbeat, my blood pressure, my pulse,
I couldn't see it before but this is love.

Am I in pain?,
am I delusional?,
am I pathetic to fall?,
am I crazy?,
yes, yes, yes, yes,
but isn't that love?,
if i told you now you wouldn't believe me,
so I would keep my affections to myself,
hoping one day you would feel it yourself,
and love me again my beautiful Bluebeard.

You looked quite handsome today,
can you give me a kiss?,
could you wrap you hands around me as I sleep?,
do we get to be a family?,
do we have kids?,
please come stay in my cage with me,
when can we go on a proper date?,
what should we name our kids?,
New York or Atlanta?,
these are questions I can't ask because I fear you might misunderstand me.

You haven't called me beautiful in a while,
sometimes I stretch my hands out of my cage so you can hold it,
is there someone else?,
why can't you see my greenlight?,
you loved my blue eyes,
you have no idea how much you make me smile,
lately I haven't seen much of you,
am I a burden that takes your time?,
tell me the truth, you promised no lies,
am I the beast to your beauty, or are you mine?.

Tell me you love me,
tell me you care,
I miss the way you touched me and played with my hair,
from the day that I met you,
I had been best friends,
from the day that you brought me here,
I admit I was scared,
but love is war and what is war without fear,
still I die i hope you realise that you are right,
I love you and I always will.

Flood

Strangers staring, father frowning
as the crickets chirp   in the deluged duplex,
Sydney swims towards the stairs,
looks like no water wets here, she said,
father follows further,
where's little Linda? , he heard,
a barking bulldog runs down the slippery stairs.

Me

What am I doing?,
the strength of a real poet is to speak truth through words but most words I cannot pronounce,
I struggle to recite my poems out loud,
i realise i have misspelt as I proceed to read so i stop  to correct my writings but by then my words have already lost its magic,
I do not know whether to end with a full stop or comma so i keep writing placing punctuations as I please, one blunder after the other,
who cares anyways, they will all go to waste.
I haven't picked up phone to write in days,
I blame it on a hopeless presence but those are all excuses,
it isn't writers block because the ideas don't cease to come,
I'm afraid all my plans are just mere micro naps,
i say i am wide awake and focused but as for my future i fear i hallucinate.
i tell myself i will not live like this forever, they will all see me, notice me,
i saw a friend today and it reminded me how much my life is a waste and i might do the world a favour and leave in a haste,
and of death I am not scared, I am more frightened that I shall be a living dead,
my heart beating in a way it does not deserve to,
walking amongst the living like one of them, eating and breathing,
I do not deserve this luxuries,if they do not see me,
if they do not worship me.
I refused to be put in a box and as for this poem there is no form,
receive it as you please and let it speak to you,
 let it flow through you,
I do not desire you sympathy,
do not support because you believe you know what I have been through,
this is not a cry for help but a warning,
I am here to learn and observe ,
so when its time for the game there is no denying my checkmate.

Farewell Friend

Allow me wrap you in my warm embrace,
so soothing and calm,
I could hear your heart race,
speaking to you was my healing balm,
I never imagined you were the cause of the aches.

Who knew so much could happen in this three seconds?
What did I do to deserve your hate?
When were you going to tell me I was your sloppy seconds?
Why?, after all the years I called you mate,
Where do I go with this heart aches?.

My sister, thank you for your honesty,
at least I died in hands of someone I loved,
and for that alone I grant you amnesty,
I pray you do not leave world without love,
so you too can feel the aches like i did.

Put a Finger Down

Put a finger down drug addict edition.
Put a finger down, if you are to scared to look in the mirror, afraid your reflection will end your delusions, mirrors show only what they see, if e sure for look, may you know if how you look and how you feel na the same thing.
Put a finger down, if you feel empty inside, like your mind is stuck in limbo, you cannot decide death or life, and all you can hear is your demon's cry, its hell inside and heaven outside, your euphoria, rue and Justin combined.
Put a finger down, if you have pushed everyone away because they begged you to stop, you didn't, now they've stopped, and you cant stop, so please stop and think of what you've lost.
Put a finger down, if you never thought you would live like this as a kid, if ten year old you wished for something different, made a time capsule, for you to read, but here you are swallowing every capsule you see.
Put a finger down, if you've lost everything, your family, your mind, your life, your high, you don't fly like you used to anymore, and that's fine, its doesn't mean you need more, the happy pills don't work anymore so you switch to heroine, but the only hero is the one who saves you from an OD .
Put a finger down if you're tired of everything, there not much to say about that you know how you feel.
Put a finger down if you feel dependent,  like your life depends on it and if you stop your heart will stop to beat, recovery ain't but it is what it is.
Put a finger down if you feel alone, no one to hold your hand as you take your first steps and your first jump, when you kicked yourself out of tat hole, we heard you cry and we held you tight and we will guide you still you are ready to face life.
Put a finger down if you now feel safe, saved from a life filled with self hate, and pass this to your former cellmates, so they can be free.

My Heart

What is it about love and poetry that makes it seem divine?,
What is it about heartbreak and music that makes me want to feel it?,
What is it about anger and paintings that makes it appear so beautiful?.

Because I lack the metaphors to explain my affection,
Because I lack the melodies to communicate my affliction,
Because I lack the skills to express my aggression,

So what do I do?
I put pen to paper and I scribble,
Circles and cycles,
That illustrate my deepest emotions,
Like a black hole made of blue ink,
Puncture my pages and make the ink leak,
Stains on my palm like blood,
Feeling it would feel better if it actually was.

So if there was a metaphor to define my emotions,
I'd  say a love song,
Smooth enough to usher in the vibes,
Easy on me enough to carry me through this hard hell,
I'd say an artwork,
Beautiful enough to call its God's creation,
I'd say a sonnet
Fourteen lines with a rhyme scheme, a pivot and a dramatic change.

But really no work of art can describe my heart,
Because my heart is my art,
And I am undescribable.

Lesser Light, Greater Light

Around and around and around,
twenty- three hours of  orbiting around,
a routine in which I am bound .

My presence causes pleasure so light,
for I only appear to reflect your light.

Your brightness I cannot outshine,
and their need for you my favors can't outshine,
I have no qualities to learn how to shine.

They watch to see you set and rise,
and leave the hills when I am to rise.

An opening act to your grand show,
a gibbous moon shall show,
an half full moon but I shall grow,
and be the greatest light you'll ever know.
