Aarna Pandey Poem
A treasure of water surrounded by the mountains,
Is where my jolly grandpa resides,
Sea green water embellishes enchanting fountains,
And, the ducks swim around water slides.
The surreal vision of the majestic mountain lake,
From my grandpa’s wooden home,
How I wish time would apply a brake,
And, I receive the freedom to roam.
A horrific reality perturbs my dream,
As I walk closer to the lake,
Heaps of garbage block the main stream,
Putting the water quality at stake.
Engines of motor boats roar with might,
Tourists queue up, for an adventurous ride,
For fun, we sacrificed the right,
Look, our lake has dried and the ducks have died.
Our beautiful lake has stopped shedding tears,
Now that her children are deaf and blind,
Our ancestors preserved it for endless years,
Shamefully, we left our duties far behind.
The fishes in the lake stare at me,
With the hope that their ecosystem is secure,
A promise that I will make them free,
And, their home clean and pure
The earth beneath is slowly engulfing our lake,
Punishing us for our brutal and mindless actions,
When will we learn from our unforgivable mistakes?
Do we wait for nature’s disastrous reactions?

Aarna Pandey Poem
Blinded by greed, we can no longer see,
The parched lake, and the withered tree,
Their eternal friendship meets a miserable end,
A painful saga of two best friends.
The story began eons ago,
Through heat, storms, rains and snow,
Stirred with care and compassion,
Immersed in kindness and passion.
The tree would admire itself in the crystal waters,
Inhabited by joyful flamingos, and playful otters,
The lake would excitedly chatter for long hours,
While splashing the tree and the sunflowers.
Graciously, the bountiful lake fed the tree,
Whilst the tree was a home to the swamp of bees,
Calmly, the lake slept under the tree’s shadow,
And, the winds rendered a lullaby with a blow.
The lake’s beauty amplified by moonlight,
And, the resplendent green tree shines so bright,
Wearing the blanket of water, the fishes play hide and seek,
And, the parrot on the tree carries twigs in its beak.
With no inkling that their paradise would crush,
Their existence erased with a stroke of a brush,
Along came a human with an axe in his hand,
To create ravage in their heavenly land.
He chopped down the tree, and polluted the lake,
Hunted the fishes, and cooked a steak,
The morbid animals began to flee,
Leaving alone the lake and the tree.
Their towering friendship came toppling down,
Buried in the grounds of the beautiful town.

Aarna Pandey Poem
Giggles and chuckles flutter in the meadows,
Prancing ponytails, peekaboo under the tree's shadows,
Protected below the blanket of the quiet sky,
A realm of peace, a paradise to the eye.
Blood that drenched the earth for so long,
Wars waged for reasons all wrong,
Lives took by the swish of a sword,
Reason and truth are entirely ignored.
Countless sacrifices gave the gift of peace,
A dream that was hard to believe.
Upholding the values of freedom and liberty,
A vow to protect them until eternity.
Daddy no longer goes to wars,
Mummy doesn't wait for him at the doors,
A battlefield has ceased creating orphans,
Innocent no longer killed by the shot of guns.
Parents don’t send their sons to battle,
Young soldiers are not slaughtered as cattle,
Imperialism by the powerful is not tolerated,
Sovereign borders are always respected.
The politics of hate is completely dispelled,
Value of human life and liberty upheld,
Humans are not judged by the colour of their skin,
Opportunities for all to compete and win.
A world paved towards progress and prosperity,
Rejecting the age-old tradition of disparity,
Uniting to create a glorious tomorrow,
Crushing together all misery and sorrow.
Brothers and sisters of the world hold hands,
From the deserts of Africa to the Asian lands,
Restoring peace for the generations to come,
The orchestra of peace played with a strum.

Aarna Pandey Poem
Upon the sand that adorns the shores,
Sit the children who watch their kites soar,
The sounds of glee loud as the sea,
The shrills of pelicans as they flee
Amidst the blazing sun,
Sitting through the summer thunderstorms has begun,
The signs of the sky, before the clouds cry.
The sight of the rain is cherished by the eye.
My back brushes against the tall grass,
The swaying marigolds brought a twinkle on my face at a glance,
I felt the warmth on my skin,
The heat was a warm hug from within.
The hikes of summer are long and weary,
The ethereal landscape makes me teary.
Biting into a juicy watermelon is as delightful as being in a warm bed when it's pouring rain.
The memories of summer will always remain.
As I float across the ocean,
I can taste the salt on my lips, it is like a potion.
Running through the shallow water, I feel pulled back to the tide,
It is as if the ocean is inviting me for a ride
A day spent beneath the sun is truly beautiful,
Laying next to the sounds of splashes and laughter is irrefutable.
I hoped summer would everlast,
For it is summer at last
