Muse

Songs watered
Given chance to grow
Flourished beyond years
Lingering feeling
It's never over
Floral aroma
Oklahoma
Rooted possibility
Unraveling divinity
Time to synthesize
Oh gentle muse
Release your muffled hum
Sing forbidden hymns
To light the garden
Lyrics hold open wounds
Bleeding butterflies
Leading path
Sing a new sunrise
Monarchs melody
Enriches the soil
Tangled roots gift
Cherished harmony
Delicate petals detach
Rhythmic sways send soul signals
Rehearsed heartbeat cultivates cresendo
Nourishing bountiful harvest
A progression so infectious
Pollinators whistle through walkways
Our meadow,
Deemed choir
Echoes our bloom

The Water

I used to hate the rain.
Younger it brought nothing but being
Uncomfortable in my skin
So self conscious and small
Every time it rained I opted to stay in.
A heavy storm planted land mines
I tiptoed around myself
Trying to be hugged by a claustrophobic rainfall
I pushed away the cleanse.
How hard could it be to let the river take the fear?
My brain is the ocean
I was an apex predator
But also my easiest prey
And I didn't realize I couldn't swim
Until I was already drowning.
Submerged in rolling clouds and
Harmonious ear candy
The sky is crying
I wish the rain was resin
To encapsulate a collective core memory.
A needed hydro therapy.
Energy tsunami held my soul in it's eye
Washed away imprisioning body pollution
Sweet release of pre learned inhibitions
I am the water I once loathed to be in.

Reflection

She dropped sonnets in cracks of Earth
Perfectly placed for true treasure to be found
So profound
Lyrics so harmonious
Took sacred eyes to understand
A collection of stained pages
Only to be read backwards
Revealing
Reflection
Resurrection
So the outwards matches the in
I reach through the glass to caress coarse hair
My marbled mirror paints portraits
A glance once lost in vain
Makes strangers no longer estranged
She stepped through the mirror
Once just my reflection
Becomes an entity of my reality
My body envelops her outlook
I look towards the mirror
As I speak I find
The sonnets she wrote weren't hers
They have always been mine

Criminal

Loving pain is not a crime
Taxed mind
Company time
And where do I go?
Glued to delusion
Far from a lifetime
Deeper grave dug
With every return
Flaming teeth
Light drowning fires

Hallucinations

Thinking too much
Wish my mind was a light switch
5 a.m. thoughts hallucinate reality
Ghost words fuel scarred responses
Everything ends eventually
Detach early
Hurt less
Spiral out of sunken eyes
Time passes and my frame
Stays still
My body is swollen with
Unreciprocated emotion
And if you cut me in half
I would finally be able to take
A full breath
Am I healing my inner child
If I play pretend?
