Fears

Blood runs cold, goosebumps spread.
The power fear holds, messes with your head.

Whether a dark room or a slimy snake,
the form may change but the emotions remain.
Your bravery and next steps you take,
may or may not leave you in pain.

But fears aren't that always simple.
Most of them you can't control,
leaving you in the middle
and sometimes they eat you up whole...

Your mind goes blank and your heart starts to race.
Your feet start moving back while you cover your face.

"Don't run away." a voice whispers.
You freeze.
"Face it until it disappears...
with courage and ease."

Blue

There is this song
It makes me feel like im drowning
The water’s so strong
But it doesn’t leave me frowning

It feels warm
As it wraps its arms around me
Some will call it a storm
Others, the black sea

Its comfort is beyond your level
maybe im just desperate
But it makes me feel so special
I cant help it

For there is this song
that I often listen to.
and
I sing along
When I feel blue.

Mr Marcher- Martin L King

And now we walk together while holding each other's hands.
Back then, our unity remained undiscovered.
Although you had other plans,
that you pushed through while you suffered.

You marched ahead for rights that were left behind.
Making sure the next generations wouldn't have to

It earned you a Nobel Peace Prize, one of your greatest finds.
And lead you to realise, that your community grew.

You made a difference like none before.
You were considered 'great'.
Until your head hit the floor,
in 1968.

Me To Me

You're not weak, you've just been strong for too long.
Knowing you, you won't even speak.
You probably think you're doing something wrong.

That fake smile, again flashing all your teeth and the little giggle to hide the pain,
burrying your feelings beneath.

Stop it.

Stop acting like you're to blame.
So what if you're not perfect.
Quit playing this sick game.

Use all your might. Reach the places you seek.

You're right, I'm not weak.

You'Re Alive

I hope you appreciate
how far you've come.
How you've managed to survive all seasons of the sun
Because some of us haven't beeen able to

We gave up mid-run.

Waiting For Christmas

Smell the cinnamon that suns through the air.
The fireplace lit up bright.
For the Christmas tree still lays bare,
waiting to be covered in light.

The decorations taken out of the cupboard.
And the Christmas curtains being put up.
The living room all cluttered and
hot chocolate swaying in your cup.

The hanging of the mistletoe,
The excitement of meeting those dear.
Oh falling winter snow!
Show me Christmas is near.

Light

And the minute it turns night
The pounding in my head begins, I beg for the light.

I feel lost and crushed at the same time, sitting in my room.
No one comes to help me, not even the moon.

No one is alarmed, not even the clock I set.
That was until we met.

My nights a different now, in a brighter way
I no longer beg for it to be day

Nightmares

Dreams can be fun
but what happens when they go wrong?
Do you wish to wake up to the bright sun or
do you wish for it to prolong?

Everybody has different meanings of 'Nightmare'.
Some dream about exaggerated past experiences,
while others dream of realities they can't bear.

The unexpected fear you feel,
sends chills down your spine.
While you let out a squeal,
wondering the time.

Your eyes widen, finally awake.
Hands clenched together,
hoping it was all a mistake.

Reflection

There was a monster straring back.
Eyes tired and dark circles hanging.
On the verge of a panic attack
Trying not to sway while standing.

It looked lifeless, almost like it had died and resurrected once again.
The hands shivered, not because of the chill, but the fear.
The fear of ever-lasting pain.
The fear, that after the hard work,
it would be too tired to care about the cheer.

I wonder if the monster is a one - of - a kind.
It looks starved of affection.
Oh nevermind...
It's just my reflection.

Ate Me Up

Growing up, we were taught to be thankful for what we got
Never envy.
Because jealousy leaves the heart to rot
And relationships in a frenzy.

So, I didn’t. I never envied another.
Until I saw you. Sitting on that bench.
I started to envy the wind that coursed through your hair.
The leaves that brushed your skin ever so slightly.

And before I knew it. I was jealous of every lifeform that called you ‘theirs’.
I wanted to see you every day, just like they did.
I wanted to hug you, just like they did.
I wanted to be able to love you freely, just like they did.

Jealousy ate me, devoured me and I let it.
Because if it was for you, I would surrender to it.
