I Stand In Prayers

I stand in prayers...

I stand in prayers.

To pay my humble respect to the Almighty

I close my eyes,

I bow my head,

To see an unseen God

May be just a spark of light.

In the darkness that surrounds me

My mind plays havoc.

Concentrate, imagine you are standing in front of the Lord, I say to myself.

But behold,

I see my mother reading the scriptures.

My wife in the kitchen

My daughter at her study desk

Oh no, this can’t be happening.

I need to concentrate and focus on the Lord.

I close my eyes.

And behold.

I hear the chirping of the birds.

The meowing of the cat

My mind soaking in the rainforest.

Running around on the beaches

Walking with the moon under the canopy of stars

No, this can’t be happening.

I need to concentrate; I need to focus.

I need to see my Lord.

I need to see Kaaba, but the images of a temple run by

I need to hear the Azan, but church bells penetrate me.

I need to pray, but the memories of my love haunt me.

Tears roll down my cheeks, for my lack of devotion.

My prayers I assume dashed on the rocky shores of religion.

I had no proof of God.

The unseen remained unseen.

But in the mistiness and fogginess of my mind

I realized.

I had seen Him in all that I loved.

He had shown me the panoramic view of all that He is.

Graveyard

Graveyard

Everyday on the way to my way to my clinic, I cross a huge graveyard, supposed to be the biggest one in Long Island. A Christian graveyard.

Thousands are resting peacefully in these graves. All perfectly lined, surrounded by manicured grass.

I don't know who lies there, and I am sure each one of them has a great story to tell, of family and friends, of laughter and tears, of toil and success, and even of great failures, of riches lost and gained. They are all there, the rich and the poor, the general and the common soldier, some of them dating back to the American Civil War.

I do not know how it started, it just happened spontaneously a few years ago. I started praying for them on my way to clinic and back from the clinic. A simple non traditional prayer for their souls. It was just a small prayer, nothing more. I do not know anyone of them and they will never know me. They do not belong to my race or religion or country. I just prayed.

Over the years, I don't know whether my prayers have brought them any good, but slowly and silently, it brought about a sense of peace to my own soul. It made me belong to entirely humanity. It appeared as if I had broken all the barriers of race, caste, religion, and nationality, and made me one with the entire Universe.

I feel when we do some good, even like a simple thing as a "smile" or a "prayer", for some one whom we don't know, and who probably will never know us, we become a part of the entire Universe.

When we help another human being, plant a tree or take care of animals, adopt a pet, without expecting anything in return, we are the Universe, for Universe is "love".

Universe is a God’s act of love.

Retirement a Mirage

Retirement a mirage....

Retirement is a grand mirage
A distant vision, vaporizing into nothingness
A lie told a hundred times to sound like truth, but retirement is a grand mirage.

Man was not born to retire
To lie Ideally, while life passes by
But to tear open the veil of retirement
And look into the future, with a new born curiosity.

How can you burn the love poems of your youth
How will you hide the scars of your suffering
How will you hide your wrinkles behind a hollow retirement
How will you bury a life time of struggles in an antique box.

If your lips want to smile, go ahead
If your eyes want to shed a few tears, go ahead
If your heart wants to dance, go ahead
If your soul seeks new adventure, go ahead

If You cannot run, walk,
if You cannot walk, crawl, but go ahead
If life does not give you smiles, share the tears, but feel all the emotions
You, do not sit ideal, and let life pass by
You, savor every smile, every tear drop.

You, keep your heart warm and cozy, for God to rest
You, carry the lamp of love, for friend or foe to find the way
You, drink with friends, dance with your family.
You, walk with your head held high, embrace every stranger.

You, light the world with your heart
You, give wings to your scars
You, give voice to your wrinkles
You, leave the world a better place, than born into.
You were never born to retire, but be reborn.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday ?? my dear

Who says romance is the fiefdom of only the youth?

Even today, I drink from your eyes,

Your smile causes a ripple in my ?? heart

Your love ?? hides the secrets of my soul.

In every snowy flake of winter,

In the rain ??? drops of Summer

I see your face

In all my sorrows

In all my celebrations

You are my life.

In the tumultuous waves of life

Your the North Star ??, leading me to the shore.

You are the Divine candle ??? lighting up my path.

The beautiful rose ?? whose fragrance envelopes me

I am the drunken dervish whirling around you.

Chatgtp

My dear ChatGTP

My dear ChatGTP

Welcome to our world

All the glory, All the fame

You may run faster than the fastest

But can you lose a winning battle for your beloved.

Can you shed tears of joy, seeing your child get a kindergarten prize.

Can you feel your heart sink in sorrow, to see your love depart from your life.

Can you feel the presence of your love, even when she is not present.

Can you feel like a million dollars, embracing your grandkid.

Can you be a son, to see God in your mother’s face.

Can you be a mother, who sleeps hungry, so her child can eat.

Will your heart ?? sing out a melody, seeing a romantic moonlight.

Can you give all that you have, for one smile of your dream.

Can you stand in front of a Tsunami of hate, and only wish good.

Can you wait for a lifetime, for her to lift her veil.

Can you have faith, to turn an idol to God.

Can you be so immersed in love, to see God in all that you come across.

Dream

I am in love with a dream
As beautiful as the moon
As enchanting as the starry sky
Whose Midas touch can shower me with gold and diamonds.
Within my reach a dream of a lifetime
I am in love with the dream.
I know my Lord.
You answer the prayers of your devotees.
You will not let go any earnest desire of mine
But
I do not want you to fulfill my dream
I do not want you to clothe it with reality
Least it causes a havoc
It’s tsunami destroying in its path the relationships of a lifetime.
Faith being tossed around in a non-forgiving tornado.
Soaking and drenching me in guilt
There are more important things in life than love.
Integrity is one of them.
I am in love with a dream my lord.
Do not answer my prayers.
