For You

For you I’d lay awake through open heart surgery
I’d walk through fire and shower in mercury.
Whatever it takes, if only you knew
I’d relight the sun to make the world brighter, For you
I’d burn my heart with a lighter.
Maybe you did know
And you watched me burn as long as I’d endure it
I became what you want and you punished me for it.

Always the fool to believe in forever
Not realizing my time was already up
Avoiding conflict my puerile endeavor
I cried the water that filled your cup

It was then I realized I was not the fool
I was a girl in love without knowing what it was
Sitting content in toxic garbage
Offering up my mental health
For you I was willing to hurt myself
But it wasn’t my fault
Partially at relief is a girl stuck in the 2nd stage of grief
No jabs to the heart or fire to my skin
I cried the river I should’ve drowned you in

The Greatest Thing To Come From All of Technology

Despite all of its negative factors
It’s the best thing to sweep the nation
Social media actually matters;
Because it helps with communication.
It allows you to keep in touch
With the ones you cherish so much
it’s a way to meet new people
And some, you’ll end up loving for years to come
Whether calm, funny, meek or bizarre
Social media helps you express who you are
Express your opinions and what you’ve been through
To see a million strangers relating to you.
Promote your art, show your passion
Speak your truth in your photos and caption
Use the media for greatness and wonders
Be the one who inspires others.
When used responsibly
Social media is honestly;
The greatest thing to come from all of technology

Heart Like the Sun

To have a heart like the sun
Kind you must be,
Blinding to see, not hiding how you feel,
Displaying only what is real
No regard, no concern for what they appeal because you yearn to have a heart like the sun

They cannot feast on your soft soul
You on your own can make whole
You are half of nothing, no cotton jassid can suck your passion that burns like acid
Your love has not rested
You’ll find you’re the best when you shine and again they’ll go blind when the light line from your chest and behind shows that you have a
Heart like the sun.

My Hair

Take every coil and frizz as they come
Smothered with oil, protected from sun
There’s so much wrong said and felt and done
But our hair is our culture and history in one
More of this is what needs to be said
There's beauty in the way it grows out of our head

Live Passionately, Love Passionately

If there is nothing I know for sure
I know that we need to show love more
If you’ve never done it in the past
Remember any day could be your last
Give a hug
Flaunt a smile
Kiss lasting as long as the river Nile
Announce your love and spread it nationally
Live Passionately, love passionately
Words of love should be embraced
Don’t hide
The strongest forces cannot be denied

Old Neighborhood Youth

It was always such a delight
To see the children out in the night
Batting stones to curb
Picking at snails that trailed on the side of the wall
Just waiting for it to unstuck and fall
Ice cream melting down their grubby hands
The sound of a ball pelting the wet sand
The sounds of the shriek and screams and laughter
The start of a new game and everything after
Nothing like watching youth in the neighborhood
That kind of joy didn’t stay like they say it would

Short Story

It’s more than structure and diction
It’s a type of literature that exists in forms
It’s a piece of prose fiction
It’s not a hurricane but a short storm
Linked events in one depiction.
Since it still has to fall in a category
What’s so unique about a short story?
Being shorter is not its only glory
But it lives to gives us an allegory
Longer stories require committing
One chapter after the other
Short stories can be read in one sitting
Like the kind read to you by your beloved mother
They’re quicker to grab those who read or listens
Let’s commend the great work of Charles Dickens
Short stories make use of the resonance and plot, but to a lesser degree
And this is why short stories rock, taught to you by me
