Perfect Dream

Screams and cheers
perfectly trimmed soccer fields
the women's world cup
it's the championship match
i'm decked in the red white and blue
of the USA
the whistle blows piercing our ears
the game is underway
intense competition
who will give in first
in what seems like only two minutes
the game is coming to an end
a score has yet to come
twenty seconds left
the fans are on their feet
I receive the ball
top of the eighteen
I take the final shot
SWOOSH!!!
the sweet sound of the ball hitting
the back of the net
the whistle blows
the fans erupt
and then
I wake up...

Missing You

I hold your photo close
it's difficult to part
my pen flies across the page
your power grows dark
that ever changing pattern
that problem all the time
i don't know how to put this
the past is yours the futures mine

These Have I Loved

These have I loved
Sitting under oak trees in the cool summer's grass
Holding hands with someone I love
Counting the stars in a summer's night sky
Feeling the sea breeze tug a my hair
The warm ocean spray on my sun kissed skin
Running barefoot
Smelling wildflowers
Swinging on swings under a setting sun
Roasting marshmallows around a campfire
These have I loved
Laughing uncontrollably
Looking at old photo albums
Staying up late and sleeping in
My dog after a hard day
Catching fireflies just before dusk
Sweet lemonade touching my lips
Sitting on porch swings
Laughing with friends
Living my Life
These have I loved

My Hearts Shovel

A hole is forming in my heart
And you were the start
You dug the shovel in and took a chunk out
You didn't even listen when i cried out
The pain you've cause me
Was another piece of my heart
Which you leased for a while
And then tore apart

When you said goodbye
The hole turned to a pit
To which my sorrows could fit

Then came the day when I had to stop
I picked up my shovel
And began to fill the pit
WIth laughs and happy memories
Anything that would fit
And one day I realized
My pit was a mound
I'd filled it up and even added
New ground

I know my hearts shovel will be passed around
And i know how to fill it
With new soil and ground
This is just the start to the
Never ending cycle of filling
My heart

Split Second

That one second, just that one
To stand up and fight for someone
Those names you hear
Those names you hate
Those names you could stop with just a twist of fate
Will you step up?
Can you handle the power?

Breaking others down
Just to build themselves up
Another wave crashing on the beach of bad luck
That moment the wave touches the shore
That moment of happiness just before
The wave slowly washes away
But it's sure to be back again someday

That one second, just that one
When you had the chance to correct the outcome
To help the victim in his most desperate hour
The courage, the voice, is what we lack
Do we really have the strength to fight back
This never ending fight will never cease
Until we all learn to keep the peace

With every passing word,
With every passing day
Another victim slowly slips away
We have a chance to stop all this
Will you take that second, just that one?
To fight back for someone
