Aids

Alienated
Ironic how the one you love can hurt you the most
Death can be so sweet
Secret kept for life

Brothers By Oppression

Bloods, Crips, Kings
Brothers by oppression
yet the sight of colors
can bring on war
While blasting angry
voices through stereos
KILL
KILL
KILL
Beautiful women
Innocent children
lose Father, Sons, Brothers
Future teachers and coaches
of our community under
mind control
These young kamikazes
used to be power rangers
lovers
Now they hold techs
without fear
Batman was their hero
Now the almighty dolla
has them blind
Bloods, Crips, Kings
Brothers by oppression

Sistah Girl

Sistah girl
Your smile
Lights the
World
Your brown
Skin
So rich
And smooth
Arms stretch
Wide
Accepting and releasing
Love
Your natural
Movements
So graceful
And sexy
Sistah girl
Your hands
Small and nibble
Can heal anything
Strong; they would
Never let go
Of the people
And things
That matter most
Sistah girl
Love Yourself
In and Out
Because you are
Illuminous

Deja Vu

Déjà vu hit me hard
One day
As I sat in
Your arms
Looking into those
Brown eyes
Nostalgia making me
Dizzy
Like I’ve been
Here before
Surrounded in your love
Drowning in a
Familiar smell
Like my
Great grandmas’
Biscuits
On a cold morning
Our skin touch
And a feeling
Like when I
Rode a carousel
For the first time
Brings goosebumps
Up my arms
When we hold
Hands I
Experience a
Flashback
Of a past life
Or the future
Maybe neither
The words
“I do”
Are coming
From my lips
You smile
Tears sliding
Down your face
Utter bliss
How
With all the distractions
In this world
Did I find you?
Your spirit
Is as sweet
As the sugarcanes
I loved when
I was young
A fire so
Strong burns through you
Anyone can notice it
With all my faults
You see right
through to me
so if I been here before
I hope I never left

My Man

Dreads swingin’
Golden brown skin
Deep south
Drawl
Cunning like
A fox
Sharp as
An eagle
So strung out;
Me I mean
Over your love
Security and protection
Is all I feel
In his arms
A familiarity
Like no other
With you I
Feel back to
My roots
I can smell the
Collard greens
I can hear
The very faint
But definite power
Of a language
So foreign to me
You can have me
So high
But when
I crash
Oh
I can see
In you
The hurt
When you
Get itchy
To go
To leap up and leave me
Either in the
Dead of night or
Going to grab
Some smoke
Because it’s not
In your spirit
To sit still
You are made up of
Long roads
No end
Or specific
Destination in sight
Just open air
And a
Freedom
That only birds know
You cuss me
Because like always
But I hope
Not forever
You don’t know
How to deal with
Your anger
Because like
Always but
I hope not forever
Your just another
Black man
Who was left
Abandoned by
Another black man
Leaving behind
An endless cycle
Of tough love
But see tough love
Is what I’m made
Of
It’s in my spirit
To wipe at
Your scars
To grease your scalp
While you
Tell me
Of your adventures
To tell you that
Nothing or no one
Can stop you
From touching the
sky

Untitled

Tell me something
they say there's someone
for everyone
in this world
That even with
all the distractions
      GOD
has that person
set up and ready
for you
Well I say
there isn't one
for me
I've been around
like the hands
of a clock
tick tock
Next please
So the punishment
for my indiscretions
Is a life
alone
Because I am
an outsider
even in my
own family
Friends
don't understand me
Isolated
and I have
to admit
I enjoy
But what is
a good joke
If there's no one
to laugh with
And what is
a sunset
if there's
no one to enjoy
it with
And what
is a woman
If she is
left alone
forever
Can anyone
answer that for me?

Untitled

I saw you
guitar in hand
blue eyes
blond hair
And it amazed me
how we stared
into each others
eyes
A forbidden love
Mix Matched
Puzzled
I saw you
Mind, Body, & Soul
It matched mine
The rythmn of
your guitar
and the swing
of my hips
enterwined
oh my
I thought
this white boy
might have me sprung
I saw you
and I never looked back

My Friend

My friend
you can be
deadly
killing thousands
in one wave
My friend
you know
al my
secrets and desires
worries and dreams
your like a
sister who
never judges
or curse
My friend
gentle
like a first
kiss
GOD is your
father
who directs
you to all
broken humanity
so that you can wash
their sins
Earth is your
mother
who you heal
after society
rapes her
My friend
you are so
beautiful
when the stars
are out
and the moon is
shining
in that black abyss
we call the sky
My beautiful friend
the sea
