Cheeky Whiskey

Whiskey’s my favorite drink.
It makes my cheeks turn pink.
Can’t have just one,
What’d be the fun.
So I drink til I get to the brink.

Past

When I was a child,
Running free and wild
The pines my favorite place to be.

Days filled with fun,
Enjoying the sun,
Climbing each and every tree.

The 60’s my decade,
LP’s we played,
So much fun, but serious too.

Vietnam the war,
Couldn’t keep score
Of the young men we lost, quite a few.

Then Woodstock happened.
So close, just imagine
Hendrix, Joplin on stage.

Music all around,
Awesome, freakin sound
They would have gotten better with age.

Memories we made,
Friendships that stayed.
To the future these things we bring.

Just part of my youth.
To tell you the truth,
I wouldn’t change a thing.

Feeling Lost

Why do I feel like I’m drifting,
Nothing to tether me down.
Feeling lost, alone and so lonely
My face in a permanent frown.

It feels like there’s no one who loves me,
No one who cares how I feel.
No one who shares my emotions,
Not one who can help me to heal.

My sons are my reason for living,
Each in his own special way
Make my life so much better,
I’ll love them to my last dying day.

And so goes my life,
The day after day.
The day I feel happy,
Seems so far away.

Wasted Time

Time.
A precious gift,
Consider what you do.
Are you a give, a taker, a hoarder,
Which avenue to pursue?

Keep it for yourself,
No sharing, none to spare
Be stingy with your time
You are totally unaware.

But one day…
One day you’ll want to share some time
With those who begged for your attention.
Where did they go?
Where are they now?
All gone. Not fine.
No love. Just time…

To Ted and Debbie

A brother and sister should
always be friends,
One for the other, who
Cares and defends.

A brother and sister should
always be kind,
Love one another,
Lives intertwined.

A brother and sister should
always be there,
To love and to cherish, to
show that you care.

A brother and sister should
always be brave,
Together forever, cradle
to grave.

Count your blessings,
Love each other a ton,
Someday, too soon,
there will only be one.
