Happy, Hopeless Dreamer

I’m looking at the stars
I’m gliding through the dark
I’m sitting on a swing

(I’m with somebody else
But he’s on another planet)

While I’m flying ever higher
Eyes glued to the skies
Vast, escaping mind
That’s when I decide
That the sky is time

Above me, warm and navy
Orbits each moment that’s made me.
Preserved for all of history
In constellations heavenly

I watch from a noisy city
My life scattered above me
I assign one star per memory
Treasure each one individually

But what about this moment?
The one where I uncovered
Every other moment
Twinkling gently now discovered

This is the revelation
And the pivotal rotation
On which every precious second
Spins in sight of all creation

(To my right he’s drifting coolly
To and fro, he ponders
To do lists, work and money
And he will do well with all)

Meanwhile I keep rising
In the cosmic dark I’m flying
Lifetime of dreaming surrounding

And I don’t have a hope
or a care, in this world.

Like Dancers

Eery pale
You stand together
In unison
You twirl your arms
Tall and strong
You spin forever
Our saving grace
You dance, wind farms

Legacy

You joined the world alone
Fresh individual
You hadn't made your mark yet
Now look at how you're leaving
They're all flocking
to your bedside.
Look at what you caused
Look at what you have created
From the birth of your first
you changed everything forever.
Now you're scattered
across the Earth
in their crinkly eyes
their sweet teeth
and their smiles.
You've anchored down in all of them
Even as you take the final voyage
You lead a fleet that's made of you
Seemingly alone, you're surrounded
by your family, and wrapped up
in your legacy

Lonely Soul

Bed;
Not just a place to rest
Not just a place to
sleep
Your bed;
Your place to disappear
Your haven safe, your secrets
keep
You dry your weary eyes
Between the troubled sheets you
weep
You muffle angry screams
Beneath tormented pillows
deep
Your heavy curtains closed
You hide alone
from brutal light
In and out of consciousness
You drift and doze
through day and night
