The Greatest Gift

I remember on Christmas day 
Holiday cheer on my face
As I got up and looked under the Christmas tree
A box of wrappings and ribbons just for me 

What's inside?
I can’t wait to see
My curiosity is taking over me 
I really wonder
What could really be 
Inside my box
Under the Christmas tree

Maybe it could be 
Toys, planes
Lego's for me
Blocks, games
Maybe paintings
A coat, a hat
A nice pair of jeans’
Oh the wonderful things it could be 

So tear by tear 
Rip by rip
I open up my gift
From dear Saint Nick 

When I looked inside 
It bewildered me
It wasn’t what I 
Thought it would be
It was a photo of
 My family
I asked my mom 
What does this photo mean
She turned 
And said to me 
The greatest gift 
Doesn’t come from 
A box under a tree
The greatest gift comes 
From time with loved ones and 
 family 
And to me 
That was the best gift
I have ever received
And to me 
 that Is what Christmas

My beacon of light

Among the dark
You shine in the night

I would be lost

I´m sorry brother
I see you fighting
I see your battles
I see you trying
Even through your pain 
you are smiling

As time went on
His condition got worse
His body began to quake
His hand began to shake
His voice began to break

The news was hard for me to hear
Reality hit me hard
The end was so near

The thought of it was hard for me to grapple
I´m sorry to say brother
you have lost your battle

Close your eyes
You did your best
But it is time for you to rest

A stranger
No one sees 
A mask that came to be
A different person 
Who Isn’t me 

Because of this mask 
I don’t feel free 
Trapped
Fearing no one 
Will like the real me

I feel like a stranger
So out of place
A fake smile upon my face

Outside I look fine

Caged like a animal
Locked away
A hideous beast
Who cuts up
And rips out their prey

A monstrous beast 
Trapped in a cage
With nothing but its
Hate, pain,
And subliminal rage

This beast could be in you 
This beast could be in me
All I know is that it is
