Spirited Wings

Pensively I ponder upon meanings that make me wonder
Are we bodies with a soul or souls in a body?
yet why do we box it up in glorified golden invisible cages?
making it feel like this is what it was meant to be?

How can my soul be courageous when she is limited to ideologies?
Should she not experience roads less travelled?
The risks of the unknown, meeting new goals
Exploring new horizons that holds mystical meaning.

My soul must be free to feel new energy
spread love and meaning to every organism
There mere liveliness and enthusiasm of soaring with no boundaries
the overwhelming experience of love, laughter, and zest of just being.

So, then when did this conform happen where we are chained to boxes
of worshiping sun, sea, mountains, and imaginary faces.
Stories of fear and banish should you rebel
How this came to be, is so hard to tell.

So, when death comes calling will our souls still have a religion?
or does the next realm hold no such meaning
We are all one, spirits just soaring
free, wild, brave, and every other character you stopped in the name of discipline or religion?

Majestic Monsoon

Your sounds of rumbling thunder bring back memories of fear,
of ones who went too early caught up in your waves so dear.
Yet each new monsoon also brings so much hope,
when parched lands lie barren in waste they grope.
seeds lie awaiting to bring life new colors of lustre
if only your wrath will not destroy the plans so grandeur.

They say if you love the sunshine, you must welcome the rain,
to see forests grow we must let the water reach her plains.
yet ever so often we see them flow along with the flood,
The earth, our homes, and everything that took our blood.
Is there an underlying song you want us to hear you sing?
Are we failing to hear what warnings your floods bring?

Can we come to a truce between mankind and nature?
let's go back to the beginning where all was a pretty picture?
I promise to nurture you back as a mother would her child,
I am sorry we hurt you, pained you, and went totally wild.
We are one and I failed to see that, the birds, bees, and every creature,
Thank you for being patient and a wonderful teacher!

Room 54

As she moved in the cramp, dingy, damp space
her heart pounding, her muscles tightened with fear
All she knew she had to do is find the key to room 54.

When her eyes could weep no more, she could only feel anguish and hurt somewhere in the distance, she hears her witch sisters cry
All the comfort you are looking for is in room 54.

She found herself drowning in self-doubt
for all around her were people who practiced hate and loathe
And again, she could hear those wild mustangs in her head say
you were born free, find your freedom in room 54.

Years and years of conditioning and pleasing
Broke loose when she finally realized
Room 54 is not a place that can be touched or lived in
It was inside her.

Then her chains broke free
Her witch sisters swirled to the melodies of the woods
the wild mustangs finally rode into clouds of glory
And she never needed the key to room 54.
