Why Can'T We Choose

Why Can't We Choose?

From the time of conception,
After nine months we were born, Fragile and innocent,
Totally dependent with our parents.

We learned to walk and talk,
Played and enjoyed our childhood.
But as we grow older we realized,
Life on earth seemed so unfair.

Not all of us were lucky enough,
To live a happy and comfortable life.
Broken families and relationships,
Children were most affected.

Many have succeed despite poverty,
Proper education was the key.
With faith and determination,
A dream came to reality.

Is it because God has a plan?
That we were not given the chance, To choose a family we want,
And lived with them in harmony.

Why do we have to suffer,
And endure the brokenness.
For wealth is not all we need,
But a peaceful life instead.

Clouds

The Clouds

How happy I was this morning,
To look at the white clouds while travelling.
Telling my daughter who was driving,
Reaching those clouds is my dream.

Instantly she told me to fasten my seatbelt,
For my request shall be granted.
Laughing at her joke I said,
Wait a minute, we need a magic.

Then the white clouds slowly vanish,
And the blue skies turned shady.
Suddenly, heavy rains are pouring,
And the car wipers became busy.

White clouds described my life,
The happiness of being loved.
The loneliness brought by grief,
And moving on with my faith.

A Mother's Grief

A MOTHER'S GRIEF
By: Dalene Bayobo - Dolot

Alone in my son's bedroom, I feel the the pain of missing him so much.
How I wish to hear him singing while playing his guitar.

It's almost nine years now since he was called home by our Creator.
But not a single day passed that his loving memories slip of my mind.

The many "what if" and "why's" remain unanswered,
Had to convince myself through my faith that it was God's will.

It broke my heart that he can no longer share our joys and laughter,
And enjoy driving the car like a car racer he has dream of.

Not all will understand my journey as a grieving mom,
Like a broken record, I love to tell his life's story to retain his memory.

I am grateful to God for giving me enough courage and strength,
To live and endure the pain in my heart as long as I breath.

Sunset

If there's a beginning, there's always an end.
Like birth, comes death in the end.
For without sunrise, there could be no sunset.

When I was younger, I used to spend my summer vacation in the ricefields. Harvesting palay, playing kites, watching the birds and the beautiful sunset.

How I wish to bring back the hands of time. The time when sunset brings the calmness of the night. Listening to radio dramas with a bright moonlight.

Nowadays, I eagerly wait for the sunset. For it is near to nighttime.
Where at night I can temporarily escape from the physical and emotional pain I hid.

Sunset reminds the end of my earthly journey.
Hoping for a loved one to take care of me.
When I can no longer rise to see the morning light.

Pain

PAIN

I used to say I am fine,
Even if deep inside I am hurting.
I don't want to be a burden,
To my husband and children.

Seeking medical treatment,
Is my last priority.
I challenge my endurance,
While the pain is bearable.

My head is hard as the stone,
With a heart soft as the cotton.
I always tell my children,
Emulate only the good side in me.

Calling my departed mom,
Somehow relieves my pain.
I felt her loving caress,
That cures like a medicine.

But most of all I believe,
By God's grace I am blessed.
To endure all the pain I felt,
Forever grateful to Him.

Sooner or later, my time will end,
All the pain will go with the wind.
Pleading God to forgive my sins,
Entrusting my soul to Him.

Dream

Trapped in a place unknown,
I walked fast to find my home.
Lost in the wilderness,
Afraid of being alone.

My mind keeps telling me,
Continue and enjoy the journey.
Like a rainbow in the sky,
A pot of gold I can hold.

Though obstacles hinder,
With monsters like creatures.
Passing through the deep sea,
Just to get back home.

Awaken by the roaster crowing,
I came to my senses.
Glad it was just a dream,
An experience with a meaning.

Illusion

Like a lightning in the sky,
You came into my mind.
With a stunning look,
And a very sweet smile.

We knew each other's name,
And felt the warmth of your hand.
As we danced under the moonlight,
My heart was beating fast.

Trusting you I hesitated not,
To tell you the dark side of my life.
Pretending to live a happy life,
Hiding the pain in my heart.

A pledge of love you offered me,
Be at my side you'll always be.
A promise I hope to last,
'Till death do us part.

In just a blink of my eyes,
You' re gone without saying goodbye.
Back to my senses I realize,
You're just an illusion in my mind.
