John's Departure

While his presidential jet idled on the runway
Many good people came to mourn
Oh,
A troubled American nightmare had woken
On that day when they murdered John
It was such a dark heartbreak moment
Men cried as his coffin became airborne
Voices of liberty echoed across the sky
As he left us
Broken and alone
Now beyond our tears
On his final journey home

Kerouac After Twilight

After twilight around that corner
City Lights show an alternative way
Sipping sour whiskey from chipped cups
In low sweaty cellars where frothy cats play
Shades under tilted black beat berry hats
And Charlie's beat sounds out over his steady rap
Snyder slumps iodine in the doorway queue
Waiting for a tired Bird's wings to flap
Onstage another rhythmic rant from Jack
Sets shapely dark stockinged table legs to tap
Smoke haze from unfiltered thin street rolls
As cool closed eyes dig that lonely wail horn blow
All youth Zen style sharing jazz and blues
And I'm thinking
We gotta go and make our own poems Babe
Cause I always want to- anywhere with you

Night Watch

Five little furry feathered swans
Paddle on the lake in a curved line
Out along a rugged rocky island
Following shadows of a black pen
Danger will come with fading light
So mother guides her team home
Knowing that preying eyes watch
As stillness spreads, she feels alone

Son of the Land

Black Wolf's brothers move
Always follow a safe guide
Trust in a strong leader for life
Just seek survival with pride
Now see more human greed
More dangers, no place to hide
Pollution rots where wolves feed
The ghost of Jack London tried
To repair the wolf's plight
Then cried

Time Passes

A broken man stood
Smoking by the river's edge today
Watching reflections of a wasted life
Ripple on the water, floating away
Love's demise has made him feel this way
And so he planned to leave this world
Holding a card that said
'Goodbye Dear, No more for you I'll pay'
Cars, clothes, holidays, maintenance
Me Me Me Me Me, and never We
Drowning, darkness, loveless life
No!
This man was me around three
But tonight upon reflection
I feel positive and free

Park Mood

Trees hide shyly, soon to undress
Main park gates are now idle
No slow traffic to prevent access
Or shouts to make a keeper bridle
All settles down to it's Winter's rest
And aspects are at nature's best
