Tariq Tayebi Poem
I’m sure you have a hobby,
A passion of some sort,
Some people might like biking,
Others might like naughts.
Although some people might think,
Gardening is the best,
For me I think chess is solely the best,
To the point where I would play for hours on end,
With no rest!
There are pawns and knights and bishops,
Don’t forget the forks,
But wait, there’s more,
Can’t you remember the trades?
This amazing game,
Has a truly amazing aim,
To offer a simple trade,
Could end up to be black pieces’ raid!
Now I’m sure you know,
What makes chess so fun,
This game is truly amazing,
So play this game of thought instead of waste your time and run.

Tariq Tayebi Poem
The cat on the mat
The cat was sitting on the mat,
The rat was holding a bat.
Luckily for the cat,
He ate the rat,
And that was that for the cat on the mat.

Tariq Tayebi Poem
The weird racing car
The car was driving on the thin track,
Oh no, the car bumped into a leather sack.
The driver limped out of his car,
Only to find some children eating tartar.
Am I going mad, the driver thought,
As he saw some goats gloat.
The driver started to scream...
As a huge machine started to spill on him, fresh cream.

Tariq Tayebi Poem
Walking past the traffic lights
I’m walking past the traffic lights when I see a running knight,
He was running from a giant with an almighty height.
As I walked further I saw something fluttering in the wind,
I was a doodle which an infant drew being pecked by a cockatoo.
As I neared the traffic lights I saw a goat,
It envied the sheep’s longer coat.
As I reach the traffic lights,
I see some lice flying a kite.
Finally I reached the traffic lights away from those crazy knights, giants, infants, doodles, cockatoos, goats, sheep, lice and kites.

Tariq Tayebi Poem
As the moon climbs high in the starry sky,
I hear the penguins in their nest cry.
The moon casts an eerie glow in the roaring ocean below.
As The ocean eats away at the white sand,
Each grain is so fine and feels grand.
The long thin grass dances in the soft warm wind,
Where silent slithering snakes are hiding,
Looking for its perfect find to pin.
The swallows are leaving again looking for summer.
I see them flying into the horizon,
Some of them falling behind,
And you can just see them in the slowly lighting up sky.
As dawn breaks the smell of rain wanders around the beach,
Lightning pushes through the thick gray clouds and lights up the sky with one fiery blow.
Thunder scares the birds and insects, sending them somewhere warmer to feed away from the rain and blow.
The bees retreat into their hives as hailstone as big as an orange crash to the ground.
The small plants and bushes are decomposing matter,
The hailstones made them pounded to the ground.
The town is in ruins,
There is litter on the beaches,
Out of their hiding spots come the leeches.
There were better days,
When the paddocks were full of neighs.
This will be a ghost town for now,
As long as the floods stay.

My Pets
My pet cat was holding a bat,
He was probably inspired by the cat in the hat.
My pet toad was jumping on the road,
He nearly got hit by a truck with a very heavy load.
My pet parrot was sitting in a chariot,
Jabbering while Queen Elizabeth was giving him a carrot.
My pet rabbit has a really bad habit,
Of nabbing and playing on other people's tablets.
All my pets each have talents,
But none of them are as cool as my neon paint pallet

Aborigines
The aborigines lived here before us (Europeans),
We stole land from them,
Therefore we should say sorry,
We should unite,
We should give back their land,
And their rights,
We should celebrate, work, and go threw hardship together.
