Fun

I wrote this just for fun
The poem has now begun

Now sit back in your seat
For a poem that will be neat

It could be about life
Or death by a knife

Maybe about loads of money
Enough that it wouldn't be funny

Possibly about fast cars
Or long dead Russian Czars

How about your favorite pet
Or even your best friend Brett

What if it was completely random
Nothing seems in tandem

Well that is true
Who Knew

Apocalypse

The Apocalypse is here at last
Our mighty nation will be soon surpassed

Nothing but cold, dark death
We will soon take our last breath

We can no longer put off what is to come
This is a fact that has made us all numb

Our hourglass is almost out
And there is no other route

Our time had come and now its done
Is there any hope? None

We had our chance, but then we failed
But some still think we have prevailed

Not wanting to accept the fact
As though it was some horrid act

Such a rude awakening they are in for
When we no longer live anymore

I wish that day were not so near
Just one more thing for us to fear

Lust and Greed

Lust and greed drives the hearts of man
We get our fingers into everything we can

We have all we need yet we want more
And we have no idea for what is in store

All this lust and greed has Calloused our soul
In the process we have lost all control

There is no longer humanity
Have we finally lost all sanity?

What no one can see through the gloom
Is the dark impending doom

It is closes all around
It soon will completely surround

We have nothing with which to fight
Even though this is a battle we did incite

We are no longer the light
We have become a blight

True Price of War

The mighty warlord shakes his fist and sends his troops to the abyss
Families broken and torn because of an oath that was sworn
Fathers and sons die in vain but no one can feel their pain
Mothers cry as their children are sent off to die
Innocent blood is shed, does no one care for these dead
Sadness grips the heart of man as many a persons blood stains the land
Cries from the public go unheard as the warlord shouts his mighty words
Kill them all he says, make these people pay
The screams of wounded go on through the night begging for the warlord to end the fight
No answer comes from his high up throne for his heart is cold as stone
Only a child dared to face him
He begged for his people
His words so moved the warlord he again shook is fist this time calling his troops from
the abyss
Families are pieced back together after the mighty storm they have weathered
The child is proclaimed a hero
Sides that once wared against each other now call themselves brothers
Fields are resown and homes rebuilt, no longer does the warlord feel guilt
But nothing can replace the loss of life for that is the true price of war

Brightness

The sun comes over the horizon and I am here
Bringing eternal comfort and shedding fears

Happiness and joy are spread around
I warm up the cold, damp ground

Bringing life and feed the masses
I am so bright that you need glasses

Lighting up cities with a pretty white glow
Putting on a beautiful show

I light up the sky with brilliant colors
All within sight stare up in wonder

It is late and I must go
Back to the others that I know

I'll be back again tomorrow
And you again will forget all sorrow

Break of Day

Walking down the dark hallway
Wishing for the break of day

For light to penetrate
All the places that I hate

Filling them with bright white light
Driving out all fear or fright

Keeping beasts at bay
Letting me frolic and play

Going into vast black spaces
Making them well lit places

All is cheerful and bright
Filling my heart with delight

Kicking out my inner demons
Who torment my without rhyme nor reason

I see the sun peak over the sky
All terrible feelings are let go to fly

No more burdens no more pain
All possessing spirits have been slain

Money

Money is the bane of man
Since the day that time began

It has started wars
Invasions onto foreign shores

It is involved in the death of men
And continues to be again and again

The only thing people are willing to kill for
No matter how much they have they always want more

We need it to stay alive
Without it we cannot survive

A necessary evil in our every day lives
We think it helps us but it only deprives

Teathered down by our lust for it
To its will we all submit

Now all mankind bitter and awry
A truth that we chose to deny

It makes our choices for us
Leaving others to clean up our mess

We act like this is not the facts
But for our ignorance we pay a heavy tax

We throw money at every thing that goes wrong
And we the people just go along

It destroies our moral foundation
We corrupted it as a nation

We are all to blame
We treat life like it is one big game

Money becomes our only answer
It has become a cancer

For which there is no foreseeable cure
It is a condition we must endure

Troops

As we fight we die
While we live we cry

Horrors and pain
Over soldiers slain

Not just soldiers but people with lives
With sons, daughters and wives

There not just another chess piece
For without them all hope would cease

Our military is not just a whole
Each man has a role

The loss of one should be the same as the loss of all
We should morn those who died at our nations call

Not just go on with our day
While we ignore the price they pay

We live in our little sheltered existence
Ignorant of what goes on in the distance

People die for our way of life
And we repay them with strife

Invisible Evil

We fight, we war
 With disregard for the gore

Horrible tragedies ignored
 Is any peace restored?

Attacks on innocents proceed
While no warnings do we heed

While we focus on what does not matter
 Our enemies hide and scatter

They are free to fight another day
With our heads the price to pay

We fight an evil without a face
They operate silently without a trace

Plotting their next move
Even though the world does disapprove

How can we fight what we can not see?
Even though it stands in front of me

They are like an invisible force
And we cannot track the source

Eventually our time will come
But will we chose to succumb?

Will we stand and fight?
Or will we run and hide in fright?

Will we stand up for our land?
Or witness its destruction firsthand?

Has our demise already been written?
Or will we just sit here smitten?

                                                                                2/25/09

Demons

Night fast approaching, the demons are encroaching
The sun is going down, there is hell all around

Death is near, you can taste the fear
Darkness is coming, you better start running

They chase you down and tackle you to the ground
Try as you might you can not win the fight

They have come for your soul, you have no control
You slip away and pray for the break of day

There is no hope in sight, then you see first light
Dawn has come putting demons on the run

Safety at last, but it will soon pass
For night will come again with fright its only friend
