Winter Opus

Winter
Slow ghost in fields of thought
Giver of the inward memories,
turning outward the sigh
of loving and of life
that through the ages remains.

Visible breaths in the blue
Portraits of time
from a barren silence
where once prospered
the sea of sweet words.

Frosted Earth, frozen embryo
Something has stifled
the summer's witness
and brought to our sight
the unfolding
white-woven night.

All is calm under the chilled air,
among the dull houses
and streets of uncertainty.
The mind burns brightest
in the bitter winter,
in long, lonely walks
through the gleaming dream,
embracing with a grin
the swaying winds
and trees that scream.

Slow Observation

The cold fabric of humanity
The diseased pulse of a city
Seen through microscope eyes
that seduce the unknown.

A faint whisper I thought I heard
A fossil of the pale interior
Words dissolve to a brush of wind
And I can only observe
Merely
Sincerely
While the candle burns
to nothingness.

The eternal cycle
will plague it's numbered pawns
till seeds of life have withdrawn
in slow writhing
of universal fibers
Like a leer from a wandering eye
Silent soundscape
Helpless cry.

Now free us
from ourselves
and from inside.

What Becomes

What becomes of past places
and lost faces therein
Drifting from mind and eyes
with the slow secrecy
of a setting sun.

What becomes of a child's laughter
that once soared with the breeze
It doesn't have to leave
our internal seas
so painfully soon
with such tender ease.

Perception

What appears to the eye
uncovers the soul
with infinite truths
of both light and black

Hearts cling too dearly
to their perished flames
Sailing wept waters
that stream slowly aback.

We live and die as one
fruit of prized passions
that bind and blind us
on some grander scale

Questions soar through seasons
Obscure, unanswered
Shielding the secrets
only love should unveil.

The Enigmatic

Dangling in the depths of dread
Repeating in phases
the fading night faces
Recurring
as sun and Earth wed.

A vague picture of a time
escapes to the clouds
A sea of lightless shrouds
Lingering
where muted terrors twine.

Skies in shyness watch and mourn
their child's endless decay
withering white to gray
Unaware
Between two fates now torn.

The spirit cries out in vain
at what fails to evolve
and lifelong strives to solve
the puzzles
concealed within the rain.

Woman

She deepens in wordless waves
like the summer she appeared
With wonder my eyes obsess,
in longing quick to caress
the cascade of soft beauty
that to the heart grows near.

A love where no love conceived
Smiles laced in shone surprise
To burn beneath her fingertips
and sift the song from luring lips
Held captive by a new dawn
that wakes within her eyes.
