Silent Streets

Silent streets, frozen lights
Crystal clear in the silent night
The roads and bridges
Once where two-wheelers and four-wheelers plied,
Now, lie as if deserts
Under the dark clear sky.
Once the streets full of people,
The hustle and bustle of mankind
Now...lie as if a shooting star
Suddenly passed by.
A tiny microbe comes and takes away the lives,
Killing thousands in no time,
Heaven and Earth made alike!
The busyness of the city
The festivals of the people
The duties of mankind
All vanished in front of the eye.
Now, all that is left
Are the silent streets and the frozen lights
Under the dark night sky
Only moon patters its shine
And the stars twinkle bright
The city lies silent with uncanny fright,
The silent streets....
The frozen lights.....

The Three Realms of Life

The Sun, the Earth, the Sky
And the birds come to fly,
Their wings wrapped with golden feathers
Kiss the white clouds and the mere blue sky.

The sky stands alone
A lone traveller, who covers the whole of Earth.
White fluffy clouds are its ornaments
While the Sun is its vermillion spot!
Stands the green mountains,
Giving it the huge green attire.
And the birds come to fly...

Brown and hard and fertile
Is the Earth,
Where one can find a variety of life,
Wriggles a worm deep beneath
Stamps an elephant on its sheet,
Jumps the kangaroo over the plains
And feasts the lion on the meat!
And, here comes the farmer
Tilling the layers of ancient survival,
Grows potatoes, beans and pumpkins
This is the sweet Earth where we all lie.

The Sun with its radiant look,
Provides light to read a book
Vitamins to survive
And the perfect evening scenarios...
Where the Sun meets the horizon
And changes from blue to yellow to orange
And a dark night full of fireflies.

And then, the owl hoots
From the tree branch,
The dark night full of pride
Whistles to the wind,
And the trees behind
The trees behind, the trees behind!

Beauty of Nature

When the sun rises
From between the verdant mountains,
And above the silent valleys…
It passes a tinge…
Of light-yellow and white,
Which delights the ones
Watching this magnificent sight.
The golden rays drive out the melancholy
From the body…
Which glitters under the sunlight.
Flowers bloom,
Honeybees and butterflies
Flutter over the aroma.
Caterpillars and earthworms wriggle and dance.
Birds fly to touch…
The golden spirit and blush.

When the sun sets,
It hides into lush green hills,
And creates an ocean of colours
First from light yellow to ochre
And then orange followed by crimson.
The sky filled with hues
Soon deepens into a sea of blues
Birds return to their nests.
And then… the sun disappears.
And we are left with a satisfactory gaze
O’! My heart sighs in relief,
Yet in pain…
Can we get any Earth like this again?

New Leaves

With the break of dawn,
They arrive with a new smile;
Dressed in a million dew drops,
That rest on the magnificent green veil!
Providing lives to all on Earth,
We are blessed to have them as our saviours.
In winters, they freeze,
Wearing blankets of snow;
In summers, they beg for a drop of H2O!
Yet, performing their duty;
And when the rain comes,
They dance in joy and show their beauty.
In the spring, they give birth to many like them,
And many yet to come;
Yes, they are our Green Leaves
The true jewels of the Earth.
