Fishing

He's just another fish in the sea
Or at least that's what they told me

They said, why would I want to love a fish
When I can reach for whatever I wish

Dry my tears, have some fun
They said, stick around, there's no need to run

They're building me a bridge I don't want to get over
Trying to give me a fake four leaf clover

But I just don't get it, why for me are they wishing
When really, I'd rather go back to fishing

The Puzzle of Life

Sometimes you just can't
Find that last piece of the puzzle
And you just have to make
The picture work without it

Break-Up Food

When I'm not in the mood
I eat break up food
And watch movies all night
Ruin my sight
Popcorn stuck in my braces
Slurp soda, make funny faces
Laugh at stupid stuff
When things are sad, I give a loud huff
But every emotion is defined
I'll watch movies of any kind
To make me laugh or cry
To help thoughts go away of... the guy
But man I love break up food
It really gets me in a good mood! :)

Pieces

You were a grater
My heart was the cheese
Now you have me scattered
Wherever you please

Yet I still love you
With all the little pieces

Too Late

When your eyes shine
Under the big lights
When you fly up the field
While playing the game

When your hair blows
In the unforgiving wind
When you rush past me
In pursuit of the ball

When your smell surrounds me
As we huddle on the field
When you drink my water
When you leave yours at home

When we pile into the truck
On cold frosty nights
When you give me a ride
Because my mom "forgot"

When you look into my eyes
And don't realize it
When your hand brushes mine
And you make nothing of it

When you don't notice
The hints I drop everywhere

When you wake up one morning
And realize you have feelings for me
I'm going to wake up next to a guy
That already did...

Walk Together

Today we are sunshine
Today we are light
Today we walk together
Today we don't fight

For freedom and peace
Of mind and of soul
Today we see liberty
And we're under control

When the world shouts to stop
What are we fighting for
To kill and be killed, well
Today we fight no more

Today we are stripes
Today we are stars
Today we walk together
Today peace is ours

Yellow Leaf

I see it everyday
I walk by the same plant
Sitting on the kitchen table
Never really giving it much thought

But today as I was eating take-out
With that little plant sitting right there in front of me
I began to think more and more about it
And as I looked closer at the naturally green plant

I saw a single yellow leaf
Just there in the middle of all the green
Minding it's own business
But sticking out like a sore thumb

Sitting there, I just couldn't stop looking at it
It was bright and beautiful, yet in the wrong spot
I stared and stared at it,
Trying to fish out that thought I knew I was thinking

Then it hit me
If people could just be like that yellow leaf
Be different, stick out,
And not care what others think

Swim against the current
Wear polka dots when everyone else wears stripes
Be Santa Claus on Halloween
Where pajama's to school

If only people,
were more like that
one little
yellow leaf

Sharpening the Knife

So what
Don't give me that look
It was just a cut
I am no crook

I feel better
To see my arm bleed
You yell, "Get Her"
But the cut is my feed

Why do you make me stop?
It doesn't hurt that bad
You are not some sort of cop
Cutting makes me glad

I don't feel anymore
But the sharp blade
I am no longer hurting in the core
All the feelings fade

I wear a jacket
To cover the scars
And I'll have to hack it
They are my permanent memoirs

So I'll just sit
And sharpen the knife
Don't throw a fit
This is my life

It's not like you know pain
I do, more then others
I live life in vain
And I won't get help from my mother

I don't want your help
Just leave me alone
So just hush your yelp
Don't give me that tone

This is my choice
Not yours to say
The cut is my voice
So just let me waste away...

This is for anyone, who has felt alone, you aren't, things can never be as bad as they seem, just keep
moving and never give up.

God's Children

Next time you're walking down the street
Don't judge a person by their face or feet
Think of them as God's child like you
Now, how does that change you view?
Look at your opponent in a war
They now look like you standing at God's door
We are all the same on the inside
It is something most of us hide
Sure they may not be that great
But they are not someone to hate
They are God's child just like you
They are you sibling through and through
So don't judge a book by it's cover
Because they are God's child too, like every other...
