A Divided Heart

A DIVIDED HEART

We are all born with a heart that is corrupt and wicked within
We are all born dead to the things of God in our trespasses and sin
We all need the new birth to see the kingdom Jesus spoke about
We all need to be born again to enter the kingdom and not be left out.

When we put our trust in Jesus the Holy Spirit comes to live inside
His purpose is to subdue the sin nature that just refuses to be denied
Yielding to His purposes brings about a change of heart and mind
This transformation of life and character only in Him can you find.

The Divine nature implanted in us is to set us free from the curse we are under
Only by obeying God’s word can we experience His life transforming power
Submitting to God is the only way; grace is given to the humble contrite heart
Living under the control of the Spirit is how we show new life has had a start

We are always being pulled in two different directions at the same time
We are experiencing this division constantly in our hearts and in our minds
This inner conflict is always ongoing it is fighting for the control of our life
Yielding to the Spirit is what brings about victory and inner peace from strife.

In our hearts there is a war the Spirit and the flesh are constantly in a fight
We wrestle in our minds between doing what is wrong and what is right
We often do what we don’t want to do that is evidence of the allure of sin
Only by the power of the Spirit can we overcome and win the battle within.

One day our inner war will cease we will see the fullness of our redemption
On that day our flesh will be no more for we will have put on incorruption
We will bow before Jesus seated on His throne and see Him in all His glory
Testimonies of His redeeming grace our lives are a part of His eternal story.

Persevering Faith

PERSEVERING FAITH

We are commanded to walk by faith and not by sight
We are commanded to engage in the battle and win the fight
Even when times get tough and we want to walk away
It is through persevering faith and prayer that we can stay.

Through the tough times that is where our character is formed
Though the battle rages on God has a purpose for the storms
In the refiners fire He has promised us that He is always there
That is why we can forever rest in His comfort and loving care.

Trusting Him through the darkest times is how our faith will grow
Walking not by what we see but by His truth we have come to know
Being filled with His Spirit we can overcome all doubt and fear
Putting on the whole armor of God we press on and draw near.

The enemy’s sole purpose is to steal, kill, and destroy
He wants to take away your faith, peace, and joy
This is why we must remain in the battle and refuse to depart
With God’s Spirit empowering us we will not faint or lose heart.

The joy of victory that comes from faith and perseverance
It builds Christ like character, strength, and endurance
Therefore a reward is laid up for us in heaven that eternal resting place
Reserved for those of us who are conquerors through His amazing grace!

The Suffering Savior

THE SUFFERING SAVIOR

He came to this earth and was born with one purpose of heart and mind
To call sinners to repentance that in Him mercy and grace we might find
He willingly laid down His life for us taking the wrath of God the Father
That we might receive forgiveness and be called His sisters and brothers.

He was hated and rejected by His own creation the very people He came to love
He knew about sorrow and grief for He was even forsaken by His Father above
He was hung on the cross to die for sin evidenced by the nail prints in His hands
Because He became our sin offering now in Him justified before God we stand.

He was raised from the dead to prove the price for our redemption had been paid
It was God’s way of saying through Him the only way to heaven had been made
We can be born again into God’s family through faith in His death on the cross
We are given the free gift of salvation in Him and are no longer eternally lost.

He was called a tender plant growing up out of dry ground not a lot left to say
He had no outward beauty or stature that would attract you to look His way
He came once as a humble servant, laying aside His deity was no little thing
He will come a second time as the Victorious, Conquering, and Sovereign King.

He gives life to all who will believe in Him there is salvation in no other name
He alone is the savior, before Him we stand as guilty sinners everyone is the same
One day he will judge the wicked, and they will be sent away into outer darkness
All because they would not believe in Him and accept His love and forgiveness.

Conformed Into His Image

CONFORMED INTO HIS IMAGE

We live in a fallen, broken world where hardship and adversity are a way of life
We have to deal with pain and suffering that can cause a lot of confusion and strife
We often face heartache and sorrow that many times makes us feel empty and alone
We sometimes feel like giving up under the weight so we start to complain and groan.

The promise of God is that in the midst of all this he is working it out for our good
We have to believe His word and stand in faith even when things are not understood
He uses these things in our lives to change us and bring about a new way of behavior
He knows just how much it will take to transform us to bring out Christ like character.

We can choose to rejoice in our sufferings because God promises us He is in control
He tells us that by enduring suffering we learn to persevere and do away with the old
We are told that through perseverance our character is being changed and made new
When perseverance has finished the result is new a character that produces hope too.

We all know that the process of being changed is slow, and the road is hard and long
But God has promised us that tears shed today, will become tomorrow’s praise songs
By faith we believe God is in control and He is using all these things for His plan
His goal is to do away with the sin in our lives and make us into a brand new man.

We are told that our hope won’t be disappointed because God has given us his love
We are being conformed into His image so that we are a reflection of Jesus up above
One day when we stand before God sin will be gone we will have our full redemption
Testimonies of His grace and love and power to bring about complete transformation.

Jesus the Only Way

JESUS THE ONLY WAY

For God so loved the world that He gave as the atoning sacrifice for sin His one and only Son
There is no other name given under heaven by which we can be reconciled to God He is the
one
Jesus said, He was the way, the truth, and the life, no one could come to the Father but by
Him
Neither is there salvation in any other, He is the only Savior who can forgive and wash away
sin.

He is the one who God spoke of, the seed of the woman that would crush the head of the
serpent
He came to seek and save the lost, giving His life a ransom for many He calls sinners to
repent
Those who believe and put their trust in Him, find forgiveness for sin by the blood of the
Lamb
He has revealed Himself as Savior, Lord, and God, His children know Him as the great I AM.

He is the mediator that makes the way to God accessible because He became the sin offering
He is the forerunner entering into God’s presence and for us he is now praying and
interceding
He understands human weakness because He became one of us but He never committed
any sin
He faced everything we will face and overcame it all and now He is the way for us to enter in.

He makes God’s throne accessible to all who come in faith believing offering mercy and grace
He gives His righteousness to all who trust in him so we are accepted by God into the holy
place
To everyone who receives Him, to them He gives the right to be called one of God’s children
For everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved and receive forgiveness of
sin.

All authority has been given to Him by God the Father He is the sovereign ruler over all
creation
He is the only Savior and Redeemer, who can change you and give your life a total
transformation
He is coming back one day for His own to take us to heaven where forever His praises will
be heard
He alone possesses the wisdom and power to perform all He has promised He would do in
His word.

The Gift of the Cross

THE GIFT OF THE CROSS

I am grateful for the power of God revealed in the cross
For without its revelation I would be eternally lost
The gift of salvation in His Son God freely gave
So that a wretch like me could be redeemed and saved.

He shed His blood to cleanse and take away my sin
The Holy Spirit testifies about the new birth within
His willingness to save is evidence of His compassion and love
Manifest in His Son the gift of God’s grace from above.

It broke the power of sin in my life and set me free
I have become a new creation evident for all to see
The transformation that comes from being a doer of His word
It changed my life forever that now His praises might be heard.

Living a new life is the evidence that His Spirit is at work inside
Bearing much fruit is the proof that in His presence I abide
Walking obediently in His ways is how I continue to grow
Abiding in His word is how more of Him I come to know.

Bringing glory to God is my sole purpose here on earth
It is the only way to live that brings value and worth
Looking forward to experiencing the fullness of His grace
When I stand in His presence and see Him face to face.

My Amazing Journey

MY AMAZING JOURNEY

This journey I am currently on started sometime ago
What God had planned for me I really did not know
He needed to get my attention and that He was able to do
He had to humble me and strip away my pride too.

He pulled my life out from under me and took everything away
The only choice I had was to surrender to doing things His way
Fasting and praying is where this process started to begin
Brokenness and repentance brought forgiveness and cleansing from sin.

I must make a choice between righteousness and sin
The battle rages on which one of these will win
The one I feed the most is the one that will win the fight
The one that I obey shows if I am walking in darkness or light.

By putting on the whole armor of God I am prepared to fight the war
Being strong in His mighty power makes me more than a conqueror
By bringing every thought captive temptations lure I can flee
By walking in the Spirit sin loses its influence over me.

He is renewing me on the inside and giving me a brand new start
He is changing my life and creating in me a clean and pure heart
I am learning to trust in Him resulting in love, joy and peace
Bringing everything to Him in prayer is how the worries cease.

I am finding out His ways are the paths that lead to the abundant life
When I humble myself and obey it brings about blessings and not strife
I am growing in my faith and learning He is faithful, just and true
Changing me into the image of His Son is what He is committed to.

I am learning that by bearing much fruit I can bring Him glory
By abiding in His word my life is becoming a part of His story
I am being transformed by the renewing of my mind
By daily taking up my cross His plan for my life I find.

I have not lacked anything God has been faithful to provide
He has answered prayer His praises I cannot keep inside
The miracles I have seen Him do give me a reason to rejoice
It is His way of confirming that putting Him first is the right choice.

Waiting Upon the Lord

WAITING UPON THE LORD

We are promised in scripture that if we will wait upon the Lord He will renew our strength
Learning to be still and know that He is God is where the power comes from to go the length
Being patient in prayer is where we hear His still small voice to guide us along the way
Reading His word is how we understand His will and learn to know what He wants to say.

Waiting upon the Lord is how our faith and trust in Him grows as we learn how to persevere
During this time we learn His promise is true we are never alone He is always with us here
It is the process by which He changes His children and transforms us into being like His Son
This is how we mature and grow strong in Him and learn how to conquer and overcome.

We all face challenging seasons of testing during which time God seems distant and silent
Will we give up or choose to endure, seeking Him in faith as we learn to wait and be patient
This is the time where God grows our faith and trust the most and our character is made new
When we come out the other side people will see a little more of Jesus and a little less of you.

Captured By Grace

CAPTURED BY GRACE

You were the one that called me out
You were the one who brought my new birth about
Still for some reason my heart does not shout
Could it be that I am not walking in the Spirit but out.

For years I have been running away from within
Afraid to approach you bound by my sin
Then I heard about something that could change my life
I was captured by grace and I ceased from my strife.

Come boldly my child out goes the call
He gives mercy and grace it is available to all
Finding help for my battle against doubt and fear
Resisting the devil by faith I draw near.

Living under grace victorious over sin
Believing by faith that he lives within
Redeemed by his blood ransomed from the fall
By trusting in Jesus I can overcome it all.

I was captured by his mercy and grace
Transformed by his Spirit empowered for the race
Victorious with him as my conquering king
My heart now shouts his praises I sing.

The Gift of Friendship

THE GIFT OF FRIENDSHIP

Friendship is one of God’s greatest gifts to us, to which no earthly wealth can compare
The ability to give and receive love between friends is one of the blessings we get to share
We are told the giving of ourselves for the good of someone else is love put into action
Putting the interests of someone else ahead of ours is what brings real joy and satisfaction.

Christian friendship goes far deeper then just the surface and transcends any earthly bond
Friendship founded in Jesus will not end in this life but will continue into the life beyond
Jesus said we are to follow His example and be willing to lay down our lives for our friends
He said there is no greater love between friends then to give and sacrifice without any ends.

A friend is someone who will always seek to encourage you and speak grace into your ear
They will never tear you down with words because they know that will fill you with fear
Knowing you are accepted and loved by someone is one of the greatest joys we can feel
Giving the same acceptance and love back to someone is what makes friendship so real.

A friend will always tell you the truth even when they know what they will say will sting
They always want what is best for you hoping their words will a change for the better bring
They are always there when you need them to offer words of support and encouragement
They will always help you to see that there is hope even when life is at its darkest moment.

A friend is someone who will always be there to dry your tears during moments of sorrow
They will always be there to rejoice with you and celebrate the hope of a better tomorrow
A friend is someone who will always love you and be there in your time of deepest need
They will walk by your side to see you though anything because they truly love you indeed.
