Mornings

Somewhere in the south
The sun rises above the trees
The sounds of birds are heard
The wails of saddened families resonate

The tree of woe is full once again

Freedom again has been denied
Life has been taken
To those that have tried to find a new day
They have found only death

Let them hang, the overseer says
Let the others see what will happen
There will be no escape
There is no hope

The elders can only shake their heads
As the tears run unabashed
But somewhere in the crowd
Dreams to be free are waiting

To be unleashed

Saturday Night In Harlem

Juke joints bopping
The bands rocking
Couples dancing
Bouncers bouncing

Just another Saturday night in Harlem

Brothers dressed to thrill
Ladies looks would kill
Sweats flying
Partners screaming

Another Saturday night in Harlem

Bottles popping
Booze flowing
Food on the plate
Better hurry don't be late

It's Saturday night in Harlem

Well the nights at an end
Shake hands and kiss your lady friend
One more song, it will be my treat.
Come on baby, we'll come next week

Another Saturday night in Harlem
