Shore Thing

I can hear them swirling
Mixing into the ocean
My thoughts at sea
Too hard to find again
Once they’ve been released
But now, a part of something more
Something that makes up
Most of this world
Lost in an underwater abyss
They’ve been set free
Out of reach
But there forever now

Tower

Lost in the depths of my mind
So many doors I could choose
Valleys and peaks
Make me shiver and weep
Paralyzed by indecisiveness, fear, and lack
Wanting for someone to pick up my slack
Energy low, you can tell by my flow
I’m searching for clarity
My light is dim, it’s hard to see
My eyes seem to adapt in the dark
He’s hearing my plea
Hope is close, just around the bend
Strength is here, always my friend
When it seems I’m all alone,
No where really to call home
Overwhelmed with each what if or how
Just know nothing can keep me down
I’ll find a way, I always do
I’ve been here before
This same door, this same floor
I will figure it out and feel peace once again
I’m built to be resilient
Get up, make a move
This is what it is to be young
You have nothing to lose
Any choice will be the right one

Artwork

I am a work in progress, but still and always a work of art. I will blend, and smudge, and add layers and layers of color and shapes influenced by my emotions. Thoughts and feelings piling onto the canvas as days and weeks and months pass. Each addition of paint or experience only make the piece more true. And you can feel it. It radiates expression that even I didn’t know needed to be released… perfectly illustrates the confusion, the search for clarity, the begging for understanding and communication- an idea that seems just out of reach.

Graceful encounters are rare but if you take a step back you will see the rawness of the undeniably genuine dance of life. I am dancing. I am uninterrupted. I move quick and with purpose, there are periods of rest and introspection, reflection. I am inconsistent but the flow is never before seen, it is my personal sway and I love it.

Relentless

Slanted rain patters on the tin roof
Heavy, then easing off before returning with even more intensity
Like an emotional being getting upset
As the tears fall and sobs turn to relief…
Until the thoughts come back around
Realer this time
When it’s steady but soft it inspires me
And through the window I watch it fall from the sky
Barely visible
But the sun shines through at an angle and you can just notice it
 Against the dark forest background
Millions of drops of water pour from above
And it’s hard not to realize that it is the Universe shedding its own tears
Weeping to heal
There’s comfort in the rain
Perfectly illustrating that sadness is the only way for us to grow
Boy am I growing
It’s that torrential sort of rain that lets up for a little bit
But is sure to come back all day, maybe for longer
You don’t really know when it will end
So you try your best to think about all the blessings that come
While the world is wet
