Behind the Smile

Behind the smile

She has the body you desire
Her presence an enigma
She lights up every room she enters
Fills it with charisma
Her smile is perfect, like her hair
She’s all you’d like to be
Somebody who has it all
Is the image that you see

Her body she despises
She battles with her mind
She hates the person that she is
To her beauty she is blind
She loathes the way she
Laughs out loud
The colour of her hair
She sees more imperfections
That really are not there

Her life seems so together
She’ll dance until she drops
She parties hard and pays her way
With every cork she pops
She travels to exotic shores
Filled with style and grace
Everyone admires her
And will recognise her face

She’s battled with an illness
Watched loved ones suffer too
She bares the scars that life has dealt
And struggles to get through
She’s felt the pain of grief and loss
Been bullied and betrayed
Wounded by a broken heart
Felt lonely and afraid

Don’t be fooled by your perception
Of how things seem to be
Everybody struggles
Disguising what you see
Learn how to avoid envy
To yourself be true
You won’t feel the need to criticise
If you’re satisfied with you

Covid Rules Explained

Covid rules explained

About the covid 19, in case things don’t seem clear
This is what we need to do, so we don’t live in fear
We can mix with different households, as long as we’re not seven
Unless of course we’ve gone to work and bubbled with eleven
So if you have five children, then I’m sorry but you’re stuffed
No one can come in your house, and you can’t go out, it’s tough
If you are all together you can’t go for a meal
So just forget that eat out scheme, you’re too many for that deal
You could maybe have two tables, but you’re not allowed to stray
If you stay where they have seated you the virus goes away
You can’t mix with the people who’s household you are in
But the waiter can bring you a drink, he’s lifted by the rim
Then there’s local lockdowns, don’t even meet in groups of six
If you’re from different households you simply cannot mix
Not even in a garden, the virus will get you there
But if you go out for a walk it simply doesn’t care
If you’re in the pub after ten the virus will descend
But all hop on the underground and it will not offend
Before ten you will be ok, but please don’t sing or dance
Coz if you have too much fun, you just don’t stand a chance
A hairdresser can cut your hair and even trim your beard
But if you want to see a doctor, face to face is feared
You must explain on the phone what symptoms you can see
You may as well just google, ask Alexa or Siri
If you want a big Christmas feast, you have to kill the cat
Coz theres thirty at a funeral and it will stay away from that
You can’t go to a theatre, but you can sit on a plane
As long as when you come back you don’t go out again
You could take a different route, the virus then out smarted
No need for isolation, as you detoured it departed
And when you get your hair done don’t ask for a tea
As the virus lives in their mugs, but the coffee shops are Covid free
If you are in any doubt what rules apply to you
Just follow all the MP’s, they’ll show you what to do.

Take This Time To Heal

Take this time to heal

A fresh, crisp, frosty morning, the sky a tranquil blue
The Sun begins to shine and the frost turns into dew
The birds continue singing, the flowers start to bloom
The world still goes on spinning, orbited by the moon
The wildlife unaffected, maybe finding time to heal
While the human race is facing a pandemic that’s surreal
Are we being tested? To see how well we cope?
Can we work together, so as not to give up hope?
The lives of all our family’s lie in someone else’s hands
We need to make sure all the population understands
We have this opportunity to just stop....and take a breath
Appreciate the things we have, before there’s nothing left
If we all stand together, we’ll come out the other side
Rejuvenated, educated, selfless, you decide
We should take this time to realign, evaluate our lives
Decide what’s most important, to help us to survive
We’re always running out of time, to do the things we need
So make the most of all the hours, time is guaranteed
No longer in a hurry, we have nowhere to be
We think about the family, we can no longer see
But one thing is for certain, when we’ve finished with this war
We’ll love each other stronger and we’ll hug again once more
All things happen for a reason, maybe we’ve been put on trial
To take a step outside ourselves, and view our tense lifestyle
Maybe we’ll emerge much stronger and take more time to rest
Not living in the fast lane, not performing at our best
And we’ll all help one another, as we realise we’re the same
No one is immune to this, with money, race or fame
The moral of this story is, we’re not always in control
So ride the storm and take time to rejuvenate your soul

Dementia

Dementia

It first will take your memory, slowly to begin,
Until it can control you and then it starts to win.
Then there will be anger while confusion fills your head,
You won’t know if it’s day or night, or understand what’s said.
Eventually you won’t know who the people are you see,
Your loved ones all around you will want to shout “it’s me”,
Anxiety will follow as confusion takes a hold,
You may cry and not know why, or come across as cold.
Your family will watch you and try to guide you right,
But because you just don’t know them you argue and you fight.
Dementia will keep stealing a bit of you each day
Until it gets a hold of you and steals you right away.
You will not know it’s happening, your dignity will go,
You will need help to live your life, but at least you will not know.
It’s hardest for your family to watch you fade away,
To see the person who they love be taken day by day.
You may look on the outside just like you did before,
But something will be missing, you’re not there anymore.
Your words will come out jumbled, we won’t know what you mean,
Your eyes will just seem empty, forgetting what you’ve seen.
All we can do is watch you and sit and hold your hand
While dementia takes you from us and you do not understand,
And then when it has stolen you, your memories and your mind,
It has no thought for all it took, the pain it left behind.
Dementia may have borrowed you, but you were not for keeps,
Eventually it let you go, then all of us could weep.
The grief that we were feeling we just couldn’t let out
Because it left the shell of you suppressing how we felt.
Dementia may have taken you, but now it’s set you free,
Your soul is in another place, the rest is history

Follow Your Bliss

https://1drv.ms/w/s!AnlFM5zaph8Pk1vUI3Li3xkHQZag Follow your bliss

To create a happy life, you must follow your bliss
Channel your subconscious mind, to make the most of this
You have to speak right to your soul, and be true to yourself
Find the thing that moves you, success, knowledge or wealth
You have to have the courage to follow all your dreams
Don’t try to please others, take life to its extremes
Believe in you, and see the world through optimistic eyes
Make sure you have a vision and focus on the prize
The universe will open doors, if you have a grateful heart
Work on an uncluttered mind, to help the process start
No matter where we come from, we can all achieve success
Just focus on ambition and try not to digress
Don’t be disempowered by negative emotions
Stick with positivity and a mindset of good notions
Follow your intuition and ride the divine storm
Believe you can do anything and then you will perform
Each step back is a learning curve, don’t let it get you down
Keep your head above the water, so as not to sink and drown
Find an opportunity from each crisis that you hit
The path maybe a rocky one, but stick with it, commit
Reduce the powers of your fear, build courage from inside
Let the universe step in and help, let it be your guide
Don’t waste time feeling negative, in all the things you do
If life is not empowering, a change is overdue
Your bliss is out there waiting, and follow it you should
To end up in your happy place, the place where life is good

The Strangers In the Sky

The strangers in the sky

Have you ever sat back on a plane and thought, what if it fell from the sky?
If all of the people survived, but the aircraft could no longer fly
Do you look at the people around you and think, how would you cope with the stress?
Which of you people would step up and who would just be a mess?
You look at the guy with the champagne and think, would you be too drunk to care?
And then look at the lady who’s crying, before the plane has gone anywhere
Would the guy who looks like he’s a follower, step up and take charge of the scene?
Or will he let others take over, pretending it’s all been a dream?
What would we have to contend with? Deep wounds and then severed limbs?
But also the injuries we can’t see, the ones that are deep down within
Who will show the most empathy? Who will be straight down the line?
And who will pretend they are okay, when really they’re not doing fine?
When you look around at these people, with perception of how they appear
Do you wonder what each one would be like, when confronted with terror and fear?
You probably won’t ever know them, your paths never crossing again
Your destiny’s different directions, you won’t even find out their name
These people are just strangers to you, just sat altogether to fly
But think how you would get to know them, if the plane were to fall from the sky

A Parents Grief

A parents grief

When you were taken from this world it broke our hearts in two.
Who knew that we could feel such pain, the pain of losing you.
Our lives will never be the same, no matter how we try,
Because without you with us, we too, just want to die.
Every day we wake up to the sunshine on our skin,
But then we soon remember and the dark cloud does begin,
It wraps itself around us and it gets right in our hearts,
Until it squeezes them so tight all happiness departs.
Everything around us just looks like it’s the same,
But in our world, without you here, it won’t ever be again.
The world just keeps on turning, and the time goes ticking by,
But on that day our clocks just stopped and no matter how we try,
We cannot make them tick again, or stop the pain we feel.
We want to close our eyes so tight, forget that this is real.
How can we all keep living? Why does life just go on?
It seems like an injustice to continue now you’re gone,
But we know you didn’t want this, to see us all in pain,
So we have to learn to live again, with the memory of your name.
No matter if we’re angry, because it’s so unfair,
We have to find the strength to live without you being there.
We have to fight this sorrow and the emptiness we feel,
To continue making memories and allow our hearts to heal.
We know that’s what you wanted, for us to carry on,
You are always there beside us, just in spirit now you’ve gone.
Don’t think we will forget you, and some days we will still weep,
But we hope your pain has lifted, and you are peaceful in your sleep.

Thank You For Our Special Gift

Thank you for our special gift

My boy has had a baby dad, a father just like you
He’s stepped into that special role with pride and honour too
We broke the news to you last year as you lay in your bed
Although your mind had let you down “beautiful” you said
I hoped that you’d still be around to welcome their new son
But sadly that was not to be, your time on earth was done
I’m sure you helped the angels choose their very special gift
And you’ll be helping them to keep him safe through every shift
You’ve sent a little part of you back down for us to love
And you will be watching over him from your new home up above
They’ll both be perfect parents, they’ll protect and they’ll provide
They’ll shower him with so much love, they’re both so qualified
You’ve taught us lots of lessons that will help us guide him right
And we are all very grateful for our wonderful delight
The love for him so special, we all could burst with pride
He’s our little miracle, our feelings we can’t hide
I know that he can do the job, already you can tell
My boy has taken on the role that you dad, did so well
