In Between the Lines

Now that I look back at who we were
Your nature was abusive and my mind was a blur
I always thought that you were the one
Three years together and two years of fun
The last year broke me and shattered my soul
My happiness, my light, it was my joy you stole
I bid you goodbye as I walk alone
It’s time to face life, all on my own

My Therapist Doesn'T Know Your Name

Every day I think I’m over you
But a passing memory reminds me
That I will never experience that love again
But I guess I should be grateful
Now the love I experience will be
Whole
Pure
I won’t lay in bed questioning if I’m enough
For you
It was easy to fake it
Though you said you didn’t
You loved me
Just not the same way you loved her
I’m slowly losing my mind
But at least my therapist doesn’t know your name

These Thoughts

Living with it would be better
If I didn’t feel trapped behind this wool knit sweater
I try to face the facts and see
Life isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be
I look at the bigger picture and realize
I will never be what others see in their eyes
Standing up and pronouncing my name
Just won’t be the same
When I’m gone

What a world it will be without me
Trying so hard to believe
That miracles make a difference to those
Who go out and prove persistence shows
I sit alone and watch my words
As I type a text that seems absurd
“I’m doing okay”
Though my eyes turning grey
What a world it would be
To have not known me
When I’m gone

These letters I look at
Don’t seem to attack
The slightest bit of doubt
I feel roaming about
These streets seem to turn
As I walk alone and burn
In this tiny little head
That just won’t let me get to bed
I scream and I shout
But people just walk about
I can’t tell them how I feel
But they will understand when they kneel
How much my head made me bleed
How much time I spent alone in need
When I’m gone

Let's Say

Let’s say we do this
Let’s say we take on life by the strength of our minds
Let’s say we make light out of all the dark in the world
Let’s say we use our teeth to bite out the bad
Let’s say we use our hands to mend in the good
Let’s say we work together to make the universe worth it
Let’s say we do this
In the name of love
