I Really Am Sorry

I really am sorry
That for all those nights
Spent dreaming of skies starry
I hid from your lights
Silently screaming in the dark
Unable to breathe
A stroll through Hell’s park
The knife I unsheathe
But if you don’t know
The guilt I suffer
In my heart is woe
While each day is rougher
Oh, how much I wish to say,
“Every morning is a new day.”

Ballad of Kursk

Never ending bombardment
Started an hour prior
To our surprise embarkment
Our lines a bright pyre

The order went and came
Over the top we go
To win the Fuhrer’s fame
Pain we would know

We met them immediately
Tank to tank, hand to hand
We fought them obediently
Fighting for the Fatherland

Outnumbered 3 to 1
Our lead tank hit
I got out grabbed my gun
Then our tank spit

Petrol pouring
Covering my ears
The explosion roaring
Counting my years

Into the grass
Our tank burning
My feet did a chasse
My heart yearning

The Russians are devils, and coming
My friends with pace, leaving
“He can’t be saved” they’re saying
I look down my body… grieving

Landsknecht's Drink

Oh great Tavern!
Beautiful and wondrous inn
What countless prizes
Lie in wait inside!
Your vault keeps from us
Our treasured Mead, Wine, and Beer!

Oh great Mead!
Pour from the keg
Fill up your tankard
Drink to the Coin brothers!
Toast to your Paymaster
Salute your paying prince!

Oh great Wine!
Delicate to the sip
That is, to the gentile
For us Landsknecht!
Red wine is the blood
And the taste is our communion!

Oh great Beer!
How we hear your cry
Begging to be quaffed
You give us such a fright!
Way into the night
Slipping and falling!

Oh great Coin!
Our most beloved
What we’d kill for
All hail the Paymaster!
For his contracts bring
Our treasured Mead, Wine, and Beer!

The Queen

She is the master
The commander
The monarch
She rules this room
She is the Queen

Her territory expanding
Out into the kitchen
Away to the closet
Conquering through
She shows no mercy

Jumping upon her foe
Striking quickly
Silencing opposition
Preparing for the fight
The beast shows itself

Glaring at her enemy
She bares her fangs
Draws her claws
Ready to strike
A sudden cry of dinner

She skirts past the beast
Her body slobbered on
She makes it to her bowl
The others are there
She ascends to her throne

Demanding her divine right
She lets out a battle cry
She bowls into them
A scream and a hiss
A clash of claw and tooth

A battle she will win
Attrition she won’t suffer
Beating her adversaries
She sits down to eat
After all, she is the Queen

Of All

Of all the things I’ve seen
From the smallest ants
To the tallest mountains
Seeing You,
Has made me dream

Of all the things I’ve heard
From the cry of a newborn
To the wisdom of a teacher
Hearing You,
Has made me listen

Of all the things I’ve felt
From the coarsest stone
To the smoothest wood
Feeling You,
Has made me know

Of all the things I’ve known
From the comfort of home
To the words taught in books
Knowing You,
Has made me fall in love

And of all the things I’ve ever loved
From my mother and father
To the people I call my friends
Loving You,
In this way that I do
Has done much for me
Because You have set me free.

Thing Inside

There is a thing inside
It claws and gasps for breath
Horrid thoughts reside
Of the sweet release of death
But it is death who in wrath
Leaves me feeling so
To find a now muddied path
Reducing me to woe
It tries to reach the light
But in its hellish battle
Against a growing blight
My heart is left to rattle
How am I to go on?
When I know you're gone?
