Hookers

They think they look good, yeah, they think they look fine
Hookers on the corner selling coochie for a dime

They lean into cars with their breasts hanging out
Talk to their tricks in a soft baby pout

What's up baby do you like what you see
It's all yours but you know it ain't for free

Gotta get em high so they can scream and holler
When it's all over wasn't worth a dollar

A hooker ain't picky she'll do it anywhere
Wipe off her coochie tuck the twenty in her hair

She's all about business when it comes to making money
Give it all away to the pimp who calls her honey

Then they get old and the crack rocks got em
And who wants a ho with no breasts and no bottom

Preacher Man

He greets them at the big oak doors
To bring them in can be a chore

His words are smooth, he’s full of charm
They have no clue he means them harm

They wear their best amongst the pews
Big hats, fine silks, and fancy shoes

It’s your soul he says he’ll reach
But he don’t practice what he preach

As he stands there all puffed up
He scans the crowd for new young fluff

Pass the plate and get them dollars
Now lift your voice to sing and holler

Yes he spews his babble rot
And takes from lambs who have not

His wife she sits with downcast eyes
And bears the burden of his lies

High above where God sees all
Preacher man he’s gonna fall

Paranoia

Are you the one with down cast eyes
Slinging arrows on the sly?

Are you the one with crooked speech
The parasite come to leech?

Are you the one with hidden plan
That only you can understand?

Are you the one behind the mask
Who paints my world in overcast?

Are you the one with savage touch
Reaching out in greedy clutch?

Are you the one with swivel mind
To cease my voice and spirit bind?

Are you the one with sweetest breath
Come to claim untimely death?

Are you the one?

Autumn's Arrival

Blue water tongues carve mountain sides
Pure singing into ocean tides

Rich ruby, amber, golden gems
Now carpet mother nature’s den

The living light that scraped the sky
Is cloaked in autumn’s cooling sigh

The beasts of warmth and chill alike
Prepare for winter’s bitter bite

Tick tocking towards a season’s death
Life shall renew in springtime breath

Curled and Dead

I gaze into familar eyes
Washed they were in living lies

A lover's touch to blind the mind
Naive to one so inclined

Keys to heart all bent and broke
Weighted words that choke the throat

Flippant in fidelity
Bourban drink and stranger's fees

A love I thought we kept well fed
Lies at my feet, curled and dead

House Shoes

Here comes Marie with her face all sad and brown
Flowered house shoes flapping as her big feet hit the ground

Yelling, “Sammy’s gonna get me, get me good this time!”
“I cut him wi da knife, you know I drinks dat wine!”

“But he’s been out der cheeten, jus like he done before.”
“So I cut him once and twice I cut dat whore!”

I knew she wasn’t lying cause here comes Sammy now
No sooner did I blink is when he hit Marie, KAPOW!

House shoes went to flying, one landed here one there
Then she went to scratching and pulling at his hair

Marie picked up a bottle and cracked ole Sammy’s head
She said, “My Gawd I kilt him, he’s dead! He’s dead! He’s dead”

Sammy lay there quiet, head all red and wet
We sure thought his maker he’d done gone and met

Ambulance came and got him, took them both away
Marie barefoot and crying to fight another day
