Joseph Ardern Poem
Numberless the kisses upon her brow;
Falling soft as the blue rain of spring,
Luscious this garland of flowers and how
Lovely the fair lady, they enring
The fire and ocean of her now compose,
That most sacred melody of flesh;
Of souls mixing close as red to the rose;
Of loving every tender taken breath
Speechless her lips though a song in her soul,
Searching kisses know her everywhere
Stunning the storm that through the lady rolls,
Wild the high cries, from this lady fair

Joseph Ardern Poem
Lay in me the foundations of your peace
Let me share sabbath, silent as the deep
Oh lift me to taste the fruits I can't reach
Still in me the ceaseless prides when they speak
Grant me timeless time with your heart to seek;
In your arms, my Lord, my heart's truth to keep
Oh grow in me; the same scarred love you are
Wizen wearied eyes to your morning star,
Love, that I might love, and keep not your kingdom far

Joseph Ardern Poem
To the white fire that dies
With the same breath it begun
The serrated vein that hides
In sleeves of night; it's sudden sun
To the far arguments of sky quakes
That roll and crash in high surf
Raging: their formless posture breaks
And wakes, a sleeping earth
To the riven statues of cloud
That for a moment bear the bloom
Of the raw and silvered, and the loud
And then it's over
Over too soon

Joseph Ardern Poem
Myth in a moment till that moment believed
Magic where wide eyes and open heart agree
Nymph in floating steps bright as sun on the sea
Green turns her slender form if form be free
Melody to all that's hushed in the trees
Wild as the furthest forest is she
Light as the beams that swim through leaves
Star to the earthen stone of me
Gone with the rain, fled with the breeze..

Joseph Ardern Poem
There's a Star rising in the east,
Turning Earth by Heaven is reached,
The Timeless is, and time is breached
Weary shepherds stand, then shaking fall
As euphoric angels sing their all,
Wise men awed, heed the holy call
Dark manger by sacred star is bathed
While a relieved mother, glowing prays
Sleeping her child; the Ancient of Days
The boy stirs and softly He moans,
Paradise calling Poor his home;
This King needs no earthen throne
Three gifts in the straw are tender laid,
Homage to their Lord is breathless paid,
Holding His Father's hand; the tiny babe
Mary's joy with tears is met;
She lays her head on Joseph's chest,
She thanks the bowing, grateful guests
Then angels and men, stars and beasts
To awe and worship are released
For Heaven and human; the Prince of Peace

Joseph Ardern Poem
Now my eyes; your beauty they have seen
I need never close my eyes to dream
No more talk of love without her vows
Evermore the light you are right now
Now my heart; it's laughing with your laugh
Your sweet music binds the broken parts
No more searching now I've found
The priceless pearl, the sacred ground
Now my mind; glows at the thought of you
Like an ancient truth is burning through
And as memory each day tender takes
And Time as jewelled waves upon us break
I shall love you always and with all
Hold you so close you'll never fall
Love you with all my heart and mind
For you're my heart's treasure
The only one I want to find

Joseph Ardern Poem
That in my heart dares not dress in words
Nor yet ride softly upon breath or sigh
‘Cross lines of poetry it’s not blurred;
To music it’ll not risk one dreaming eye
For what tongue can e’er shape something so free
Or what broad bridge of language can bear?
Have mortals the heart for eternity
Or can fallen give account of fair?
I can’t temper the spring in her gentle bright
I cannot cup in my hands the oceans blue
No more than I could wrap starlight
My Love, I cannot write of you

Joseph Ardern Poem
You and I; we're going to swap our stories
Under the curving Milky Way
We're going to drink rum high in the green trees,
And toast the dying of the day
Snug as cloudlets free from the reach of man
Bright eyed eagles in their blue eyries high,
We the merry few of the green wood band;
Raising glasses to that slow honey sky
Then like a comb across the dusking grass;
Guitar strings will couple raw with the breeze
Laughter to sombre kinship shall pass,
With those guitar riffs, floating through the trees
Eternal you; washed by the maiden moon
Swaying soft in nests of mirth,
Where our cares? They fell with the day that swooned,
They no longer walk the earth
High enough for 'always,' and 'never end'
Aye, tears may come, don't we wear them well!
Just you keep on talking, my greenwood friend
I love you so completely, too deeply to tell

Joseph Ardern Poem
And do those slow dusking skies
Have roses red enough for you?
And those bright pearls in the highs
Are they as numberless, for you?
Does ancient Sun to his beloved West
Speak of far, nameless things for you?
Or when his kin keep vigil are they blessed
By your smile, as they burn for you?
And the North Wind, long as she pours
Her wine through evening boughs for you
Her breath that 'cross wild flowers soars
Yet her fragrances slow for you
And the spiralling wave whose breast
Swells with heroic boasts for you
That plumed knight undone; his glad crest
Surrendered to the rocks for you
And my wondering just wants to know
Do these words bear any meaning for you?
I ask on behalf of my heart that grows
Deeper and ever with love for you

Joseph Ardern Poem
Love is fire and water rising;
The making of all things new
Can't believe that I'm believing
All's love, when I think of you
Love is formless and yet it forms
Without muscle yet it moves
And now all that's night skies and storms;
The same remind me of you
Love is the soul, by world undyed;
In it's hope are all souls true
And all that's wild and drums am I,
For the very stars are you
