The Skeletal Poem

The human skeleton,
is made up of 206 bones
By jove, they are hard,
as if made of stones!

The brain you think with
is in the Skull or Cranium,
the Maxilla and the Mandible
are for chewing bubble gum.

It's atop the spine
which has 33 Vertebrae in all
You're sure gonna break it
if there's a nasty fall.

The 12 pairs of ribs
act just like a big ring,
while 10 fix to the Sternum
the bottom 2 are Floating.

The shoulder blade or the Scapula
is joined with the Clavicle
How they organize the movement
Is another spectacle.

The arms have the Humerus,
the Radius and the Ulna,
The hands' have wrist bones
called Carpals (not made in China).

With Metacarpals and Phalanges
we complete our hand,
don't you forget the lower limbs,
upon which we stand.

The hip bones make the Pelvis
from which the Femur originate
If you gyrate it like elvis
the Patella is sure to break.

Tibia and Fibula
are there in the Shin
The Tarsals and Metatarsals
shape your feet as it's seen.

Our journey ends here
Let me take your leave,
Take good care of your bones
for as long as you live.

Fallacy

The home divine
I thought was mine
And studded with jubilation,
Was not my own
The lid was blown
A refuge with a misconception.

A Welcome Note

Words that have been,
from deep within,
rhymed with time,
in joy or sorrow,
today or tomorrow,
I treasure them here.

The Pied Pipers of -

(Rewritten excerpts of The Pied Pipers of Hamelin in today's political scenario)

Folks,
They swarmed the nation,
in every location.
They fought like dogs, and slept like logs,
and pricked the other as if hedgehogs.

They were led by some clever sly duper,
who kept them needy, broke and pauper.
He squarely plundered all the riches,
and left the folks in distress ditches.
All the folks were utterly vexed,
and more than ever were so perplexed.

Then they chose a saintly figure,
who promised the nation would soon be richer.
The folks, quite hooked to his charm,
offered him a welcome warm.
Tall folks, short folks, fat folks, fair folks,
Lean folks, mean folks, stupid folks, cunning folks,
All the folks followed him,
and danced quietly at his whim.

As he played a lovely tune,
folks realized pretty soon.
That they stood at the ocean's brim,
and their future never looked so grim.
Here they could only sink not turn,
reached a point of no return.
Coz' the holocaust he had brought,
was worse than famine, flood or drought.

And the Pied Piper, flute in hand,
at a safe distance did he stand.
The one last thing they did discern,
that nation's well being was of least concern.
The only aim was the thousand guilder,
of which he had been a mere crusader.

But alas! It was a bit too late,
they had already sealed their fate.
The ocean soon came rumbling over,
And the dumb folks weren't heard of ever.

Corona

In the Hubei province of China central,
Is a city which is regal.
On the banks of the Yangtze mighty,
A busy hub for trade, basking in glory.

Wuhan is the name, known to many,
Is now in the news for ignominy.
A malicious virus named NovelCorona,
Is having an outbreak sourced from its fauna.

SoS from WHO lists it an epidemic,
But it has the ability to become a pandemic.
While existing treatments were not effective,
The deadly virus still can't be held captive.

Quite a number of people are dead,
And a sizeable number have fled.
Those who remain are home, confined,
Mentally devastated and justly terrified.

It's time we stand by them, in solidarity,
Bolster them with confidence, instead of showing pity.

Let them know we all are brothers in arm,
No creature on this earth can cause you any harm.
We'll tide by the crisis, as we have done before,
Keep your hope floating, for near is the shore.

Rip Friendship

Not once upon a time,
but in this very century.
There lived three friends,
who ate, drank and made merry.

Fast friends they were,
since their kindergarten days.
And after graduating,
they went different ways.

Scott went for finance,
and Roger marketing.
Though Paul was into fine arts,
they never stopped meeting.

There came a ruler,
who had a different view.
All the subjects rejoiced,
in the hope of something new.

Scott found him outstanding,
to Roger he was crook.
And in each and every meeting,
more heads than hands shook.

Paul, being an artist,
was most reluctant.
But day by day he found,
his friends grow distant.

As protests grew louder,
amidst reforms galore.
Oppression too heightened,
and sanctions became more.

On one such turbulent day,
as violence marred the streets.
On one side there were slogans,
on the other marching beats.

Paul was out on work,
and was walking past the bridge.
As the protests turned menacing,
there were sounds of cartridge.

As bricks and bullets flew,
there was a faint sound of thud.
A man was seen face down,
lying in a pool of blood.

As Scott and Roger bade,
their dearest pal goodbye.
Whose bullet killed their friend?
That both sides did deny.

As the morning journal spread,
the death turned to gossip.
But Scott and Roger knew,
it was the death of Friendship.

Crush

Shall anyone tell me who she is?
For I haven't seen a maid so bliss.
As she walked into the moonlit night
The celestes looked much less bright.

Her cascades made her look so quaint,
I looked the other way lest I faint.
The calmness of her innocent face,
Seemed to have the Master's grace.

Her eyes, so deep in its stare,
I certainly not would look to dare.
Her poise and her eloquent gait,
God knows if I'm worth her fate.

All my wilderness I did get rid,
Looked straight into her eyes I did.
Instantly did our gazes lock,
For how long, only knows the clock.

She stood there, and gave a smile,
I felt mesmerized for quite a while.
But since time and tide waits for none,
My adorable love, she soon was gone.

As she went past, she turned around,
I still stood there, felt dumbfound.
Don't know if we'll ever meet again,
Till that happens will bear the pain.

Each of us knows how we feel,
Yet she won't say it, nor I will.
For some things are better felt not said,
Like words that aren't written but can be read.

Reunion

After many a year long juvenile spree,
They detached from the tree.
And fell on the earth to germinate,
To be dispersed as per their fate.

Some grew up like redwood,
Others sustained as they should.
As time seemed to fly,
Like migratory birds in the sky.

After twenty five long years,
They met to say cheers.
At first loosened like hay,
Then they tautly bonded like clay.

They started to dance and play,
And made each other's day.
Sharing sorrow, loss or pain,
So that these might not haunt again.

They gave every honest try,
Not to make the other cry.
Every Johnny, Jack and Jill,
Stood beside his friends' will.

Still if sometimes things go bad,
Need not fret upon nor feel sad.
Sharing their feelings night and day,
They'll stick together come what may....

Don'T Give Up

Don't give up
We aren't down and out
I'm still there with you
and will be, not to doubt.

I know that days are testing
The shadows are far too long,
But friends are there for a reason
Together we can march along.

Don't you give up
I implore you,
The glass is still half full.
The sun still shines,
on the lee side,
and will be dazzling soon.

Don't you think of giving up,
Behold the lovely earth.
The water is clean,
the grass looks green,
and the sky blue and bright.

The brighter days are coming by,
The darker nights will go.
Don't you want to live those days?
With me, my sis and bro!

Dare not give up you lazy fool,
No time for lax or fright.
But if you lose heart O my friend,
I'm going to lose the fight.

Legacy

Alone have you come here
Alone shall you go
Can you just leave behind
Your fragile ego?

Can't you let go your
Envy and pride
Moments of Shame and hatred,
Moments you cried

Is it too hard
to tame bursts of anger
Feelings of sorrow and pain
that quietly grow stronger.

The melancholic days
feel just like quicksand
The more you ignore it,
the more you withstand.

If they are to be disowned,
Why did you gather these?
Let them blow past you
Like the cool winter breeze.

Dance to the waves of joy,
And sing a happy tune.
A wreath of happiness,
with pleasure shall be sewn.

Sow the seeds of love
of delight and of ecstasy
Your deeds of benevolence
shall be 'membered as your legacy.
