Alivia Sloan Poem
Oh how we depend on lies
From whether or not you clean your room
Or how late you stayed up
But my lies, oh how my lies are different
More twisted, dark, and complicated
Such as “I’m not hungry”
I’m starving
Or “I’ve already ate”
I haven’t ate in 4 days
Or “I’m happy”
My happiness is as empty as a Sahara desert
Prowling around with many predators
Equipped with the Strengths of Depression, anxiety
Or perhaps “Oh I’m just wearing a hood because it’s a bit chilly!”
The truth is the night before I forcefully slid the blade across my flesh
To feel something other than heartbreak
You see, lies either wound us or make us profit
Oh how we depend on lies.
And oh how they deceive us

Alivia Sloan Poem
Oh best friend
Who always has my back
Even when I'm not sure I have hers
From my first lover
To my first break-up
Even when we fought
I knew she would be by my side the second I needed her
From when I was not sure about continuing on life
To getting better
Even when I realized I loved her more than just a best friend
