Desert Dreaming

A violent scene lay before me
Huddled in death, there’s Ella, Mary-belle, everywhere I could see
Swollen tongues, sunken eyes, frail bodies strewn in the hot powdery dirt,
I sniff the sharp stench of death, I catch my breath, swallow, stomach clenched, alert

Stark rocky outcrops, blister amongst the sharp needles of spinifex grass
Stones, sand and mica glints, ants scurry about their tasks
Red dirt, blue sky, sun bears down relentless upon the tin roof of the Station
Majestic hills, once coral reefs, the Chinamen pushed wheelbarrows up them, Dinosaurs, Indigenous people walked here long ago in my imagination

Soft bursts of purple feathery flowers of Mulla Mulla joyfully sway in the crisp air this morning, locked in the silent perennial embrace of that blue blue sky
Frivolous, dollies those desert girls, with their sweet smell and blush as I walk by
I think I’ll put a bullet in my head in that very spot
To die in such fine company, you make those tough choices on the land, easy as, why not

5,000 cattle dead, I’d cry, but there’s no more water in my eyes, in a blink, all gone so terribly wrong
I’ll sleep with my cows tonight, Ella, Mary-belle in the Mulla Mulla desert dreaming, on the land is where I was born and where I belong

Spirit Delirium - Ice

I am the mind disturbed that thinks it’s well
euphoria surfs, dysphoric swells
perfect storm before the cresting wave
felled the confidence of the brave

I am the liar that catfished hope
Stole from a random heart that couldn’t cope
Love leaps, faith jumps, joy follows
Suicide upon the maddened rocks below

I am all the tears that fell
Abide in the hidden depths of sorrows well
I am the fire that burns up all your dreams
Dying light of fallen stars and moonbeams

The Rooster

Get up MacD, smashed it again, get up and work it old man
Them cows are swallowing all the apples down
Cuc-a-dudal-du, I’m da Roostar, pump it, louder, yeah

Mrs D, girls on fleek, cluckada clucking, their bountiful asses
Not pushing out eggs, I’ll tell the bae’s their busted
Cuc-a-dudal-du, I’m da Roostar, pump it, louder, yeah

Don’t get me started bout Bungey
Stupidest dog, digs holes, thinks he’s a rabbit
Cuc-a-dudal-du, I’m da Roostar, pump it, louder yeah

Oi!, don’t leave me hanging here at the window
I’m puffed up, moonwalking, strutting my stuff
Cuc-a-dudal-du, I’m da Roostar, pump it, louder, yeah

Morning Mr, Mrs Mac you were asleep, while I was bringing it
What's that?, racket? suns bit extra this morning, yeah it's well lit
Cuc-a-dudal-du, I’m da Roostar, pump it, louder, yeah

Ya going down the Orchard? see the Chicks crib?, yesss lets burn the roof
Hmmm, the local café might sell apple flavoured lattes
Cuc-a-dudal-du, I’m da Roostar, pump it, louder, yeah

I Live, I Die, I Know Were To Go

I LIVE, I DIE, I KNOW WERE TO GO

Tendrils, memories cascade a stormy mind
Now where did I leave my pride
Forgotten now, a pearly shell on a distant shore
My death will be fierce, I am not afraid to die
But pain, well I’m drowning in it
And I can barely tolerate saying hello
To my dear friends, my loving family
Just tell them to go away and take the pain with them
I’m floating now, opiate clouds waft across an indigo sky
Listen to the echoes, a song from long ago, “Georgia on My Mind”
My heart flutters, I am 17, I meet my first love
Exhilaration, freedom, I can be anyone, anything!
The pages of time, turn swiftly now, feelings fall away like confetti
I am angry, I am happy, I am sorry, I am sad
I am more and sometimes I am less
Through it all I am me, I will not let cancer take me away from me
For I have you dear lord and I know there is more
Dear Lord, send my sisters Rose and Bella to get me
Tell them to bring Goldie, my dear dog, I am ready
Just got to sort everyone else out before I go

Beyoutiful

Believe in yourself always, be brave always

Empathy and kindness be your muses

Young at heart, keep some giggles inside

Own failure, then rise up, be resilient

Unique, only one of you in the world

Thankful, gratitude are desirable attributes

Integrity is a solid base of character

Family, friends and god be your inner circle

Understand your purpose, live a meaningful life

Love yourself, love others, just love, love, love

Seventeen Is the Lucky Number

Beneath, weeping willow you lie supine
lamenting, veneration, muse divine
weakness of mind, love is my illusion
incidental rendezvous, delusion?
my dear, recall our ten idyllic hours
smelt the perfumed air of country flowers
bright your aura, impulsed a dark desire
breathtaking, you captivate and inspire
empath, know me, from marrow to the bone
blue bells hear the daisies whisper, atone
solemn moon, rheumy eyes, opalescent
spectre do tarry with me, you present?
extinguished, I blew out your mortal flame
my unnatural desires were to blame
sleep beauty, keeper of secrets, divine
beneath, weeping willow you lie supine

I Am Krptonite

“wallpaper shadow, creeps among the moon flowers, I loved you daddy”

You stole my flower
darkness sought to devour
heart’s silken petals innocent
self loves golden brilliance
rise fresh, new day radiant
and shall overcome anything

Love Is the Essence

Love is the essence

inflamed two lovers desire

creation alive

Love is the essence

joy beyond comprehension

new mother's dreaming

Love is the essence

spiritual, divine, I woke

integrity, faith

Love is the essence

sacrifice one's life purpose

humanities hope

Writers statement:

Conceptually love, is a universal feeling that people understand instinctively. It permeates our social/cultural worldviews connecting us biologically, spiritually is fluid and dynamic. The first three talk about love for another and love of self/spiritual awakening. The last is symbolic of sacrifice/ love for the planet, the importance of fighting for causes and integrity in our personal/ community lives.

Mermaid

Silver flashes through ocean swells
sound ripples across the water
strolling the moonlight kissed water
surrender to nights sensual promise
foam breaks, mermaid soars resplendent
cobalt teal diamond skin shimmers
powerful tail propelling her way
phosphorescence trails behind
sea sparkles flitting in her wake
face startles, finely dotted aqua spots
thick lips pout, fierce, predatory
fiery orange and red markings
warrior lines swirling, cheek to neck
swims towards me, I’m awestruck
daggered teeth, transfixed
purple searing eyes, allured
flips mid-air, veers away to plunge deeply
her tail douses me in sea water
I laugh and marvel
savage beauty of the sea
silver flashes through ocean swells
