I promise to love you
I promise to kiss your knees when you fall
I promise to hang every picture you make 
I promise to come home every night 
I promise to see every milestone a father should see 
I promise to never break my promises
I promise to always be your father 
But I never promised I would stay

Sometimes I’m not sure 
If I feel big or small
In this world. 

It’s easy to become lost 
in all the chaos, 
and busy crowds of 
common people. 

Sometimes it’s easy to feel big, 
knowing that death awaits and, 
only God can judge us,
and not everyone lives. 

Perception can be a very powerful thing.
One may feel small, 
another may feel bigger than 
God’s grace.

You catch me 
as I fall into your arms
You lay me down 
and lift my shirt

my breathing slows down 
my eyes close 
You kiss my cheek, 
my neck, and my chest 
continuously making a trail 
all the way down to my pants

You come back up 
and hope that my eyes open
My seizure has not subsided 
So now you start to pray

You take my hands 
and you give them one last kiss
Now you close your eyes too 
And ask God if we can be together

looking back 
He should have just said no 
and put his foot down 
Why didn’t he stop at one mistake 
But instead he kept going when his answer was still no
One mistake down, another on the way 
He didn’t want them yet he stays 
Twenty years go by
The mistakes are grown and cared for
Now’s he has a chance to flee the seen

Poem 5 

Little lies and poor decisions 
always going towards failure 
Contemplating if you’re ever enough 
Do you turn back now, 
or is it easier to keep walking on the 
path of defeat 

Hell is not fiery flames 
or the place where the devil consumes you whole 
Hell is the absence of Light 
when darkness surrounds you 
And even the like light of night 
is gone

You cannot turn back 
so now the only way to escape this hell is to call out to him 
Lord be my Light
