Covid-19

It came upon a Chinese town
Where people starting falling down.
With symptoms that looked like the flu;
They did not know quite what to do.

And then it hit, the lasting cost;
That people’s lives had now been lost.
What happens next, if it should spread;
All answers that the world did dread.

And so it went,
Passed on and on;
Through place to place
And more lives gone.

Pandemic’s hit!
More’s on the way!
With places closed
And at home we must stay.

Supplies reduce with panic buys;
The virus spreading in disguise.
When will it stop?
How far will it go?
The outcome for us, we don’t know.
The worst generational outbreak;
Let’s pull together for everyone’s sake.

Hands should be cleaned;
And sneezes caught quick;
And self isolation if you become sick.
A cough that continues;
Or if fever is found;
Please don’t forget to head homeward bound.
Look after each other and
Those that live near
There may be some neighbours who’re living in fear

We all have a place and a part we must play;
In bringing and end to this crisis today!

Somewhere Special Today I'Ve Been

The wind it ruffles through my hair
And blows around without a care
The birds they sing
The leaves do dance
Escaped I have
My brain a chance

To silence thoughts that run around
To quieten off the noisy sounds
Of life
Of love
Of all things else
Now I can be just of self

The trees they tower over me
I feel that here I can just be
The here and now
In present times
I listen in to all the signs

I'm thankful for this time and space
A smile appears upon my face
I rest
I breathe
I drink it in
Somewhere special today I've been.

Crossroads

Sounds they hang up in the air
And float around without a care
A whistling here;
A tweeting there;
All kinds of noises everywhere.

Life it seems is big and small
And we're the greatest of them all.
Yet complicated life we make
And sacrifice for others sake.

Take stock;
Be still;
Be present here.
Think of those that you hold dear.
For now's the time;
One life you get.
Don't waste on things you will regret.

Know who you are;
Know where you've been.
Take on board all that you've seen.
But what is next is up to you
To choose what now in life you do.

The old;
The new;
What will you do,
As life it stretches out to you.
Which path you choose to go along
Will one be right;
Will one be wrong.
But as you go
Please always know,
That whichsoever path you choose
He'll always be with you.

Hope

I looked up high t'wards clouds and sky
And pictured myself on a kite flying by...
Over and under the breeze gently blew
And off passed the fields and meadows I flew.

And yet I still stand here
My feet on the spot.
I look all around and see all that I've got
My heart feels so empty
My head feels so full
Life's lost its colour,
All else seems so dull.

And then I just notice
Out there in the blue
An arm is outstretched to me
What do I do?

A chance to go flying, to escape from it all
How can I do it, what if I should fall?
I trust it, I need it, a smile reappears
My loved one, my angel, I have no more fears.

My Monster Pet

On my way to school today
A strange new thing stood in my way
It had 2 eyes; 2 ears a nose
4 legs, a tail and bulgy toes
It smelled so bad and looked so sad
And so I turned around to dad..

Can we keep him, can we please
I'll clean him and do all his teas
Ok said dad but first to school
That'll be my only rule!

Words

Why do I worry so much about words,
Ones that frustrate me and cause so much hurt.
They whirl round inside,
Turn me inside and out
Making me wonder what life's all about.

Sometimes I want it all to just stop.
To quieten down so my head doesn't pop.
I have often wondered if I wasn't here...
But then I would miss the ones I hold dear.

Control it;
Perspective;
Don't let it take hold.
I want to enjoy life before I'm too old.
I look to Him;
Pray to Him;
Ask Him for help.
I know that it's time to look after self.
So peace come upon me,
Restore me anew
I know that I need to put all trust in You.
