Dear Spoken Word

Dear Spoken Word
Thank for giving me
A platform Im able to perform.
From the page to the stage
Youve been an out for me as time passed on.

When I first saw you, it was in the 8th grade,
And at first, I didnt know what to think of you
It was like rap and poetry mixing together into
A whole different artform.
A style for the young to listen to and perform.

Then came 10th grade,
One day I was looking for slam poetry on YouTube
While many were dope
But I wanted something clean to listen hear
So, I found a lady from p4cm and since then
Youve have always kept me near.

I got into poetry at 14
But it was you that truly gave me a voice
When there wasnt anyone to speak for me.
Being that I was a misfit
Finding you was one my greatest discovery.

In you there are no boundaries
Unlike traditional poetry
Im not limited to words in Websters dictionary
But also slang words found in Urban dictionary.

You really resonate with me,
Blending the worlds of hip-hop and poetry.
One world that raised me
And the other that nurtured me.

Im truly am in awe in how you transcend cultures
From hip-hop to goth
From punk to hipster
From non-believer to Christian.
You give a reason for anyone to listen.

You have been such a big part of my life
A place of comfort,
A place where I dont feel alone
And a place where I can truly express myself.
Outside of you I stumble with words,
But in you I can I can always find my inner-self.

Growing up I was always a misfit
Being the kid that was labeled autistic.
I was constantly reminded of
Your clothes dont match, you talk much,
You too soft, too clumsy etc.
I never fit in so you helped me stand out
And me find peace within.

I committed myself into mastering you
I know this journey may have
Some bumps on the road
But Im willing to take that risk
As more literary devices unfold.
Ill be the husband and youll be the bride
We may argue, we may disagree,
But like a faithful man
Im always there alongside.

Undiscovered Poet

My name is Mario,
I know yall may not know me yet, but you will soon.
I got poetry for days, stacked on my Youtube playlist, ready to be viewed by millions.

I have been writing for almost 8 years, and I know it's time to turn my passion into a profession.
I got poetry that'll make you laugh, cry and might change your life all at the same time.

I'm the one who yall been sleeping on, I got the skills, the discipline, and the body of work to touch mics on any stage, for many this was just a phase, but for me, this was a calling.

I'm not saying I'm the best poet, but I know I'm underrated. Just take one moment out your day to view one of my poems, and I guarantee you'll want to book me to your show.

I don't plan to plan to live the starving artist life, so I'll do whatever it takes to blow you away because I know in those dark cafés I was made to be a light.

I may be young but behind this voice tells the story of a young man who's dealt with hurt, pain, loneliness, and doubt.
Give me a chance and I promise you will snap, clap or shout.

Humility

We love to be on top, to be liked to be important but God want us to be humble.

Humility is something I struggle with not because I'm a materialistic, flashy person but because I tend to get too defensive and feel like I have to prove myself to people.

Growing up in the hood I was taught I had to be tough, I had to be aggressive, I had to be edgy in order to survive and get what I want otherwise I be considered soft or a pushover.

I'm not blaming my environment because we all are sinful at the end of the day but I'm just reveling the roots behind this bad seed known as pride.

I was always quiet, easy-going and socially awkward so I was always a target for someone to be messed with. I was so tired of feeling like a doormat so I thought I had to defend myself when someone say something condescending to me or just attack me about something tooken out of context.
It ended up being just pointless energy wasted on people who are always going have their opinion no matter what I say.

I have high ambitions of being a full-time poet, traveling around the world and impacting people's lives and I believe God wants me to prosper, but at same time I know pride can come out of such a high position and my biggest fear is that I get so successful that I become arrogant and feel like I can't do no wrong.

I seen so many of my heroes fallen because of fame and success: they got addicted to drugs, committed adultury, become self-righteous or forget where they came from.

I pray I become more Christ-like in my journey of making it big.
I pray for accountability, to have people to tell me no when something is not right. I pray I stay grounded in God that fame and success don't become a liability but asset to my faith. I pray that I get to a place where I don't have to answer to no one but God.

I'M a Big Kid Now

You moved on from diapers into pull-ups
You're now ready to use the toilet.

You are so excited to wear your training pants
with your Disney charcter on the front.
It's like big boy underwear but adsorbent like a diaper.

You soon have to potty and pull down your pull-up to tinkle.
After using the potty, you feel confident and finally feel like a big kid.

You may have had some accidents in your pull-up, some pee, some poop but you continue to learn to master the potty.
Now you're on your way to becoming a big kid.

Why I Write

I write to be a beam of light
for Christ.

I write to inspire
those like me, filled with fire.

I write to be a voice for the youth
looking for truth.

I write to represent
the unrepresented.

I write 4 others, but also 4 self
as I examine my inner wealth.

I write for the misfit those who don't fit in.

I write for the Christian those who want God to listen.

I write for the urban culture
painting pictures like scuplters.

I rep God tru poetry because he's my king like royalty.

I write for those seeking answers tried of lies like cancer.

I write to for the church, building God's turf.

I write to present Christ to show the power of his might.

I wanna live and give life that's the reason why I write

Boaz

My name is Boaz I'm a man from Bethlehem.
I'm single and looking for a woman to marry.
A woman of honesty, integrity, A women of Faith.

I find this young widow name, Ruth.
This woman is a foreigner from Moab.
She was a young widow from a land of idolatry.
She left everything back home to take care of her mother-in-law.

She came willingly to serve despite being an outsider.
She knew that there was more for her than just a life of a heathen.
She worked and never complained once
I saw her and I invited her to my home.
I knew the moment we met she'll be my spouse.

I married her and we ended up raising generations of kings in our bloodline and was acknowledged in the new testament as the ancestors of Christ.

Gift of Friendship

Friendship is a gift.
You showed me what a friend is;
You support, encourage and uplift.

I don't take for granted the bond we share
It's by grace that we pair
You show me that someone really do care.

Lyrical Power

I spit metaphors and similes,
Nouns and verbs,
I spit these words
For the hood and the burbs.

I speak light in the darkness that surrounds me.
Surrounded by drugs, gunshots and poverty
Hope is still in the air
Because God is apart of me.

I'm no hero but I got the hero within
In the midst of all the sin
I still hold on to my mission
Even when others aren't wit it.

I got Lyrical power in these bones
Everyday I write these poems
To show my passion in using spoken words
In hopes to be a voice to the unheard.

Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat
Is what I use to tell my story
Through the form of poetry
In hopes that God gets the glory.

Oceans

Blue bodies of waters
covering the Earth's surface.
It takes up 70 percent of the Earth
while the rest is grass and dirt.

Soaring waves divided into five
different names:
Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, Arctic, and Southern Oceans.

I'm ready pass through your waters and see your many secrets.
God has made this world so big it's amazing just to peep it.

True Cooliness

They say your not cool unless you vape, drink alcohol, smoke weed or lose your virginity,
But as children of God, you have a different identity because you been accepted by the Trinity.
Thinking your not cool because you're not doing that stuff is the trick of the enemy.

Your cool in God's eyes because you have a desire to please him, doing his will while saying no to sin.
You've chosen a path that not many people walk on because it's narrow and straight, a path that separates the real from the fake.

True coolness is holiness.
Instead of walking in fear you walk in boldness.
Being a truly devoted Christian makes you a rebel
It's so easy to fall into sin because it's popular
But following Christ will take life to a whole new level.

It's ok to be trendy but remember who you are and who you belong to.
You don't have to do everything the world tells you to do.
You were made in his image and his likeness, so seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness.
Submitting unto his rule will make you truly cool.
