Chemical Castration

When we first MET, you were so young and FAIR,
A hundred twenty POUNDS in your underWEAR.
We tied the KNOT, and the next thing I KNEW,
Your weight ballooned UP to 300 and TWO!
Your weight GAIN ended my infatuATION.
Lovin' YOU is like a chemical castRATION.

Several times a WEEK when your mom stops BY,
She starts in on ME, and I just want to DIE!
She gripes and NAGS, got nothin' good to SAY,
Then you and SHE just eat bon-bons all DAY.
Your family TIES only add to my frustRATION.
Lovin' YOU is like a chemical castRATION.

You decided that YOU'D take a drive in my CAR,
Just go to the STORE, it's not very FAR.
That short DRIVE ended up in a WRECK,
And my sweet RIDE was shot all to HECK!
I just wanna SHOUT IT all across the NATION:
Lovin' YOU is like a chemical castRATION!

(The form for this poem is accentual verse.)

Thomas Welch

"Twin" is the meaning of his name.
Humor is his way of teasing.
Only he thinks his jokes are funny.
Most important to him is his horse, Sunny.
A kiss from me will start him sneezing.
Strength as a boxer is his claim to fame.

Writing poetry is his "thing," he's all about it.
Eldon, his dad, was also a writer.
Living life to its fullest is his aim.
Cash in his pocket makes his day brighter.
He's the man that I love, don't ever doubt it!

Do You Remember

Do you remember
Or has time erased the memory

You and me at the time we met
On motorcycle or on horseback
Up all night, you telling me stories

Real love was growing
Even as you fought it
Man and woman coming together as one
Endearing and enduring love
Manifesting itself over time
By dedication, passion, learning, working together
Every day, especially when we encounter struggles
Real people, real love, you and me

Happy Birthday

Happy is what Tom should be, 'tho for
Age there is no remedy,
Put it off, that you can do,
Play, laugh, and celebrate, too.
You know this is your special day!

Born this date in 1953
Is my man, Tom Welch, and he
Really wishes no one knew
That today he's turning 4 plus 52.
How the years fly and get away!
Dance we now with levity,
And eat and drink in gluttony!
Young or old, Tom, happy birthday to you!
