Beams of Dreams

I am dreaming the past
Past when KBC was the only station
Each morning started with the anthem of the nation
We had to know your intention
Before saying anything through the station
Each anchor had a level of education
While talent was just an addition
Any deviation
Captured the important attention
Of the head of the nation

Dreaming my past
Is all I want to do last
Streams of dreams I rather forget fast
Like dreams from my father
That choices have consequences
A grammatical sentence that became our sentence
Is every correctly stated statement correct?
This kind that litters my mind
Making me bitter
Tearing my heart into litres of tears

These dreams make me shy
Shy to try mention my name
My name that brings me shame
Shame I cant tame
Cant tame because my mind is lame
Tell me why my kind cant cry
When all I dream are tongues of fire
From gangs on hire
With orders from higher
Higher rot that burns like fire.

Dreaming that I cant have money in my pocket
Without getting something in their jacket
Vampires so scary
Scattered in my neighborhood
Thirsty for the last drop of my blood
Limiting my limitless potential
Potential so essential
For resource mobilization
With equal allocation not hurting expectation
For relocation before suffocation.

Dreams to revitalize my generation
A possible solution for this situation
In transformation of my nation
To grow without corruption
That is like sugar
Sweeter it becomes
And disaster it welcomes
But I dare dreams
Of peaceful elections
An end to preventable infections
Through certified injections
And an education without leakage
As a privilege
For everyone in my village

Laying my head on the pillow
Feels like my heart becomes hollow
From the beams of dreams that follow
Makes me want to jump from the window
And fall on the ground so low
Flickering pain into my bone marrow
Afraid it could happen again on the morrow

What do you see in your dreams?
Streams of dreams that my head cant keep
Make me wish for beams of dreams to turn the leaf
Of people who have a resolve and a belief
That we are better together
And we need each other
Without a bother
Of clannism
Of tribalism
Of racism
But a nation of inclusion
By implementation of all legislation
In word and spirit
Envisioned in our constitution
That beams our dream.

The Quest

None keeps its inventory
But it creeps into a story
A story of a modern society
Which is plural in nature;
Partly of a rural nurture
Partly of an urban stature
Yet must remain together
Lest it falls a part
For unity is strength.

For peace.

To join these pieces to each other
That requires acuteness of thought,
That demands leaders of acuity,
Who are too acquiescent to it,
And well acquainted with it.
As it demands political acumen
That defines the acme of democracy.
 Not autocracy,
Detests acidulous rulers,
Who develop quirks
To become acquisitive personalities.

Egocentric.

Raising their hands to quell the feelings
Ever in a querulous tone of voice
Ending up in quibbles
Both with the minorities,
And the majorities,
And sparing not the authorities.
To suck up to them.

To come up with funny quips
As quislings.
That all and sundry
Are left in a quandary;
Since to them
Neither a banana
Nor an orange
Or any other fruit
Can quench its thirst
Without a qualm about their stand.

And virtually nothing comes on a silver platter;
Always there is a price to pay later.
And not their dreams to shatter
Even though they dwell in the gutter.

But indeed a quid pro quo of a kind
That needs a lot of qusto to wind
And seems as distant as a pulsar
Whose drive you can’t quash
Whose desire you must succum
Whose desire is succint
To its acolytes.
Acquitted splendidly in its path
Without acrimony,
Without mean acrobatics.

Sociocentric.

Both full of sympathy,
And empathy,
And the acceptance,
And the appreciation
Of the uniqueness,
Of the diversity,
Of the peoples and cultures,
Nurtured by nature
For this is the real conquest of the quest.

First Date

I remember our first date
I did everything not to become late
I wanted to create an impression, an expression of love.

This was the first date, on my calendar of true love
Love like no other before, and I've had none like it there after
An angel so beautiful, taking steps so careful
And I wanted to create an impression, an expression of love.

She walked to me with a bright smile so divine
I was carried away, away above cloud nine
A million questions seemed answered
And all the doubts in me seemed cleared
She is the one, I concluded
As I wanted to create an impression, an expression of love.

We said so much without talking
Hand in hand we kept walking
Stealing glances at each other
And before too long, my heart was stolen
The beautiful bright eyes hang so humbly,
Occasioned by a contagious smile so sweet
I almost hit my foot on a tile, admiring her sweet lips
I listened to honey drip from her mouth,
Listening to her sweet words using my heart
To create an impression, an expression of love.

Again, I looked at her teary eyes and asked
' Why are you crying? '
In turn she asked me
' And why are you crying? '
To create an impression, an expression of love.

Because I found you,
Angels stay in heaven but I'm talking to one right now
This is heaven on earth because of you:
You bring meaning to my life
My true definition of love
You are worth more than the most beautiful of the roses
One in a million
You are the one my heart desires
The apple of my eye
You are my dream come true
The girl of my wildest dreams
I love you whole heart mind body and soul my queen
I answered without thinking to create an impression, an expression of love.

I felt tear drops on my chest, as we knelt down in a nest
An emotion so deep, brought a decision so divine
No more words to create our beautiful world
And begin the beginning of wonderful journey full of sweet memories
But an embrace was enough to create an impression, an expression of love.

Humiliated

I don't know why I have to talk about humiliation,
In the middle of what is supposed to be a celebration.
But my truth is that life isn't a love affair,
And sometimes becomes unfair and instill fear
Whenever we come near our success.
Yet we were not given the spirit of fear but of power love and a sound mind.

May be feeling humiliated because of how I was born,
That is like a thorn in my flesh.
But I have to get a fresh new mind,
That kind only Christ can give because no pain no gain.

Again, humiliated and frustrated by our location
That was supposed to become our limitation
Reducing us into imitations of our real selves yet we are fearfully and wonderfully made in the image and likeness of God who is above and above all,
And always in full control.
Just make God your all in all or He will be nothing at all.

Humiliated by the past failures but failure is never final and success is never ending.
I hope that when you fell you picked up something,
A lesson to better your best.
Always do your best and God will do the rest.

Let go and let God;
Let go your fears
Let go your past failures
Let go your pains
Let go your frustrations
Let go your humiliations.
Because we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us
And with God all things are possible
And we are more than conquerors
Because Him that is in us is greater than him in the world.

Humiliated, yes
But humiliated to succeed.

Let It Rain

It seems like it's about to rain heavily, clouds are gathering
You know what? Let it rain, rain and wash away all my tears
Tears of joy for all the years of toil, something is about to happen
Something good, something great
Yes, maybe happening already
And so, let it rain.

The cooking pot is boiling, the cook is fanning the fire
Time to eat cooked food, not cookies that only taste good
But leave you hungry, they don't feel your stomach
Never enough, never enough to calm the storm
So, let it rain.

Well, every dark cloud has its own silver lining
And every dog, has its own day
This must be it, our day
Something in it for us;
To smile
To embrace
To celebrate
To talk about, and glorify God
As we, let it rain.

You Amaze Me

The way you do the things you do, you amaze me !
When you talk the way you talk, you amaze me
When you walk the way you walk, you amaze me
When you smile the way you smile, you amaze me
When you give the way you give, you amaze me
When you love the way you love, you amaze me
When you appreciate the way you appreciate, you amaze me
The way you do the things you do, you amaze me !

Only In Kenya

The wages of sin is death, they say
But in Kenya, the wages of sin is power without say
The more you sin, the more powerful you become
And we learn nothing, while they earn everything
Like it only happens, here in Kenya.

We have a shorter way, to be something from nothing
Maybe through innovation,
Maybe through education,
Maybe through conservation,
Maybe just invention
Of great ideas like m-pesa,
Or create pyramid schemes, lucrative and curative enough they appear
And laugh to the bank then disappear,
Like it only happens, here in Kenya.

Why should we spent hours thinking, if you can think for us
And thinking creatively, creates here in Kenya,
Like create a need and, make it a crisis worse than the Isis
Like quail eggs, and the perceived benefits
Or sugar and maize crises,
Open the boarders to import more,
Enough to kill Mumias and Uasin Gishu,
As we laugh to the banks, as levels of mercury rise in our bodies
Create a commission of inquiry,
To inquire about another defunct, commission of inquiry
The spiral continues,
Life continues,
Like it only happens, here in Kenya.

When God Waited For Me

God waited for me, literary
Everything was always ahead of me, itinerary
I was always full of me, stationery
If work could change me, bribery
Then God summoned me, Calvary
And, God waited for me literary

My itinerary
Quite literary
Got me stationery
That Calvary
Was the only bribery
And, God still literary
Waited,
For me.

Lines of Love

This one is true,
True for the two of us in love,
Love defined by three sweet aspects
Aspects refined by beautiful big four in a stanza,
Stanza of five lines in mind, heart, body and soul.

Period

Has been a period
A period like no other
A full life time of activity
Spurred by alot of ability
With unlimited creativity
As a favor from the Creator
On whose credit we made it
To the very end of this period
Period
In the fullness of time
He makes everything beautiful
For time and seasons belong to Him
And time
And chance
Happens to us all
To make us tall
And walk tall
Even when we fall
We must crawl
To keep moving
Because it's not the period
Of the period
To make a difference
So,
Make hay when it's still day
Period
