Heartache Savings Time

Summer has come and gone,
There's a chill in the air.
A touch of frost on the lawn,
Takes my mind back there.

All the good times,
The laughter and smiles.
The bad times came,
And took my heart away.

The leaves turn red and gold,
My hair's a paler shade of gray.
The change of season brings the cold,
Longer nights and shorter days.

Reap the harvest that we sew,
Turn back the hands of time.
All we are is what we know,
Our fate ticks to a different rhyme.

What if we could set our clocks,
To get better days over shorter ones.
To live our lives,
On Heartach Savings Time.

Paid In Full

Put a bounty on my head,
I'm worth more dead,
Than all my years on earth,
A price determined by worth.

Easy come, Easy go,
It all comes down to that,
Prized possesions gained,
Money, greed, and fame.

Everything is never enough,
My life's the price paid,
But your happiness still fades,
The journey long and tough.

Tell me the amount due,
That will set you free,
From the hell I bring to you?
My soul taken from me,
Stamp my heart "Paid in Full".

You and I (A Tribute To My Dad)

You and I are not quite the same,
As most fathers and daughters celebrating today.
For the day I was born.
I didn't carry your name.
You and I chose a different route,
We came together in a most unusual way.

You stepped off the bus, to meet your new bride,
Your eyes full of hope, and your heart full of pride.
Little did we know, of the bond we would tie,
That fateful day we became You and I.

Many years have gone by,
Since that first day.
So many times, I couldn't find my own way.
You were there to assure me, Always to say,
"Dad loves you, Dad's here, Dinky, It will all be okay!"

You and I are different, But we're so much the same.
You gave me your love, You gave me your name.
With all my mistakes, you allowed me to be me,
Now at age thirty-six I finally feel free,
To be the person you saw,
When I came only to your knees.

No longer a frightened little bird,
From it's cage it wants to fly,
I know I can make it,
Because of YOU AND I

Bitter Emptiness

I'm no light in anyones life.
Apart from being titled a wife.
There are no children to kiss goodnite.
Happiness is no where in my sight.

Hopes and dreams fill up the day.
At night demons come out and play.
Too much drama with too little laughter.
I want my happily ever after.

When I cannot see a rainbows smile.
When disappointment seems to pile.
When dismal thoughts fill up my time.
I struggle for just one more rhyme.

My naked soul cries silently.
For a sparkle of sincereity.
As a woman losing her identity.
Seeks traces of humanity.

Who knows what tomorrow brings.
Struggling to fly with broken wings.
When the song of yesterday sharply stings.
I try to remember my favorite things.

How did it all become such a mess.
I should accept for nothing less.
My life I guess I must confess.
Is so filled with bitter emptines
