Life Is Like a Caterpillar

Intricate patterns hide beneath the surface
Waiting to be found by someone
Observant enough to see
the beauty they can bring

Simple yet beautiful,
They bring joy to all around,
And complete it once they are found

The little lines lie listening for someone to look,
And suddenly they are found

All the Things I Want To Say

Sew your mouth shut they said
Don’t let anyone know what’s inside your head
Just clench your fists
And zip your lips
And picture what horror the outcome would send

No. It’s my turn now
You need to to open your eyes and realize
That what I say is meaningful
And can turn little caterpillars into beautiful butterflies
I can make make you smile again truly
And I can make you really see

And all you need is to do is one thing just simply
Look. Look into my eyes
In their beauty like pools so deep and wide
Full of life like flourishing fireflies
Look, and maybe then you’ll see
The real me

Snow

My fingertips touched the glistening snow
A smile formed that I could show
The cold sensation climbed up my veins
Like a race car in the fast lane
A simple shiver spread swiftly down my spine
In an on-going line
My toes crunched inside my shoes
and wiggled with a sensation that was almost blue

Trapped

Stuck in a box of ineffectual ideality
And blissful hyperreality
 Never stepping out
No room to move about

Bound by the chains of expectations
Never any admiration
Wanting to scream
Because it’s not what it seems

Don’t speak
don't even think
Or they will come
before I blink

Do not move
for they will prove
That I can be easily removed

Removed from the cycle of the box
Removed the bindings of the chains and my own thoughts
Removed from everything I’ve ever known
In this luxurious lamentable low

But once I am removed I see,
It isn’t all perfect like they want you to believe
Only a prison meant to keep me asleep
Blinded to the demons that gently creep
Below the surface they lie unseen

Until I open my eyes
Step outside
And pay no mind
To their harrowing cries

When Our Eyes Met

Our eyes met in the hall
And I thought I might fall
My heart lept inside my chest
That would be my nerves at their best
“How is that possible” I thought
For one human to look that… hot

Then my jaw dropped…
My knees locked
And my heart stopped
there was a girl with him
And they just hugged, what a sin

WHO IS SHE!?!? I screamed
And you wouldn’t have believed
No you wouldn’t have believed how many eyes were then on me
And so I simply said hoarsely
“Can you forgive me?”
And she… she looked at me and said, “I can, but can he?”
Then it hit me like a semi at full speed
Or a fast and furious fire lit on dry milkweed...
His family was in town, she’s his cousin,
And I’m the girl whose face was not one shade of red, but a dozen

Heaven Is

Colors of shades and variations
Dance before your eyes
Like the rainbow that never dies
They spring to life like fireflies
Heaven is beauty

Your feet sink into the clouds
The comfort of the Lord surrounds
Like the inside of a pillow
You feel soft and mellow
Heaven is peace

You take a lingering look around
an abundance in life surrounds
Small animals frolic and prance around
All creatures can be found
Heaven is life

The sound of birds singing rings in your ears
Their loving song calms your fears
Deep inside you you feel it so
Their love and joy fills your soul
Heaven is love

The smell of fresh rain, flowers, and warm apple pie
fills the crystal blue sky
As you take a breath joy fills your lungs
You can’t help but smiling as to happiness you succumb
Heaven is joy

Find the Little Lines In Life

My eyes scanned the ground
Looking for something beautiful to be found
Gloominess filled my soul,
And in my heart there was a large hole

Until its beauty appeared to me,
Joy I did not not see
The little lines lie smiling at me,
And made my heart jump happily

You see, life without little lines
Is nothing but a caterpillar
But if you find the little lines in life,
A butterfly it will always be

The Place Where I Will Not Go

my feet slapped the ground and
Raindrops danced around
Tears slid down my cheek
And melded with the rising creek

I didn’t know where I would go,
I knew where I wouldn’t though,
I wouldn’t go to that place all alone
The place that doesn’t truly feel like home

The place where eyes are not met and feelings are not felt
Hands are not held and hearts do not melt
The place where people do not see what is going on with me
And everything is overlooked you see,

People do not look into the eyes of others
They just look down at the ground
All around they see
But they don’t see me

Why

My eyes fixated on a spot on the wall
For fear that if I look away, the tears might start to fall
My nails dug into my thigh
And I let out a deep sigh
“Why”
The thought pounded in my head
Like a boulder that can never be dead
“Why”
Why here, why now, why everything all around
It all did not make sense to me
Until I found the light you see
I now know the answer
And the answer is me
