The monster beckons
And you come to meet this new friend.
Fear entices you
And you go, led by its sweet poison.
Loneliness wraps around you
And you feel warm in its presence.
Pain sears through your heart
And your soul asks for more.
Then hope tries to break your defences
But you shut it down without blinking.
Happiness timidly crawls into your life
But you chase it away and turn off the light.
Darkness veils your universe
And you sit on the floor, cry, and give in.
You are now an empty vessel
And you thrive in your misery.
The monster beckons
And you welcome this old friend.

Alex Mmm Poem
I know it's over before we start talking.
I feel the cold on my skin because you don't touch me anymore.
I taste the blood in my mouth because you don't kiss me anymore.
I stare at the ceiling and stay awake because you don't have your arms around me anymore.
You finally tell me you're broken
But all I see is a cold, glassy stare
You tell me you care
But then you push me out the door
You say you want to be honest
But all I hear is a tale as old as time
And with each word another piece of me breaks
With each breath, another sliver of my soul withers
With each embrace, another part of my body starts to shiver.
I keep blaming myself for your behaviour
But then I realize it's just that - 'yours'
I am still 'me' and 'I' can be whole again
'I' can fall apart but 'I' can get back up too
'I' can cry but 'I' can smile too
'I' will change and flourish, become better, but you... you will never have me again - for that, you are indeed broken.
