Your Definition

Alas, the world has changed
As the humans take control.
They, for their own likes and dislikes,
Have defined you, just as they please.
And now, you witness the creation of great walls…
Separating mankind.
By the comparison… of colour, of language, of the way of life.
The beautiful, the clean, the classy, the rich…
High class, low class, third class, middle class…
Splitting the world: once split by geographical circumstances.
But remember, your definition lies within you:
In your honesty, purity, tenderness and virtue.
They are to be measured, evaluated, and to be improved…
So to win the heart of man as a rightful citizen.
Remember; do not define yourself by those futile factors –
For with them, only the stupidity of mankind shall rise.

Waves

pearl edged milk white foam
        bright blue under blinding sun
bursts salty sea spray

On the Tip of a Raindrop

Lonely dreams...
Childish whispers...
Tiptoed toed steps...
From the stones of miracles.
To arch and curve in heavenly grace,
for a reflection... unlike any other of these days.
To dance... and lift a cloud of gloom,
once cast on a sunless evening.
Curve and leap... and bring down the stars
and join them...in their heavenly dance;
nestled...under the wing of peace.
And yet...it is a dream
dreamt alone.
But as hopeful as the stars.
Never... in a thousand years...
will it be true?
The solitary dream... to dance
on the tip of a raindrop

One Last Tear

Let me cry one last tear,
may the last roll down my cheek.
It holds the key to unbind my wings
and make me free within.

Let me cry one last tear,
may the last fall down my trembling chin -
the last of all bad memories, tremble upon my chin,
and finally, dissolve to the ground.

Let me cry one last tear,
may it wash down all heartless feelings -
then, with my wings unbound, I shall fly away,
In a new life, where I shall stand strong for my side.

Goodbye

Those days…when there was sunshine forever,
Still remains in my heart… it won’t fade… not ever.

The whimsical fantasy…when you were mine
And I was yours, when days were so fine.

Once locked into one world… draped in love,
Undisturbed…not even by the cooing of a dove.

Your smile that beamed unto my life
And shined it, and made smiles so rife.

But when such days end, thick and fast
I have nothing but thanks – oh, how lovely those days did last!

The Earth spins, and changes, and everything moves on
But didn’t think it so, that those days will be gone.

And now… I say with a bitter sigh,
I end my last letter, so… goodbye.

Dimple

lips opened so slight
so that your cheeks may reflect
what twinkles your eyes

Tragedy: Into the Sea

Oh! Once was a sunny day,
People were so happy and gay… but not for so long.
The sea… was calm in the morning,
So most were in their boats… but return, they did not.
But once noon arrived,
The animals and sea, strange they did act: retreating from the sea.
Alas! The poor fish leapt:
The ocean had retreated without them… then did the men sense it.
Some took their vehicles and drove off at high speed,
But others lingered… running to the sea to catch their fish.
(These were mostly fishing villages… for them, this was just luck.)

And now, things changed…
As they saw the wave curl above their heads – way bigger than before.
And now frightened, they ran…
But the ocean pulled harder than gravity.
They screamed, but only gulls echoed.
But now, the wave was unstoppable,
Crashing over high buildings… into the land.
It roared as it came,
Dragging… all animals, humans, and debris of construction… into the sea.
Oh! Into the sea it went,
Dragging all our families, friends, and loved ones,
Forever not to be seen, they were dragged…
Into the sea.

*In remembrance of the tsunami, occurred in 12/26/2004, due to an earthquake in Java/Sumatra area. It deeply affected those islands and many more in Indonesia, and the coastal belt of Sri Lanka. It is considered as the most disastrous of all the natural disasters that affected Sri Lanka. This is written as a public voice, for as far as I know, I didn’t lose any of them to the tsunami.

Cactus

Eyes turned to future;
the cactus guards her treasures...
with her spiked armour.

You Belong

Maybe the world doubts,
Discourages, crinkled brows.
You belong in strength.
