No Song For a Raggy Boy

Ragged forlorn a burden being born

A pale face framed in coal black hair

longing for a soft caress

Suckling from a mother's breast

Salty tears wet his lips instead
No music fills his heart

Life a painful existence to be endured
Unloved the world has forgotten him.

Haiku Number One

They came to drink water
from the birdbath in the garden
in flight thirst quenched.

Valentine

You are my valentine
 faithful and truly mine.

Understanding in every way
there for me each day

To laugh to love our
whole life through

me and you.

A Weekly Chore

Her knuckles sore as she spat and swore
whipping the cloth back and across

Crouched on her heels on the stone cold floor
The newspaper used as a rug

Her forehead smeared with black polish galore
She does her weekly chore

As she polished and shined four pairs of black shoes
On the eve of the Sunday mass

A Ship Has Sailed

a ship has sailed
tears flowing
a labored breath
upon my cheek

off in the distance
dark shadows looming
out to sea her image fading

a ship has sailed

Poetry Readings

As we gathered in the coast guard station
There was a feeling of sheer elation

The outpouring of emotion
no longer a notion

Poems of love anger rage and devotion
were read to an aspiring crowd

The words flowed in this artistic abode
amid the backdrop of the ocean

A perfect setting for a poetry wetting
listening to the words in motion

The food and wine were just divine
were just divine

hearts and minds entwined
filled to the brim our every whim

Purely a joyous occasion.

Time

Clocks tick bells chime
willingly to tell the time

Seconds minutes hours days
Turn into weeks months then decades

Take time make time to look this way
in the middle of your busy day

I dont have time i hear you say
my time our time gone astray

Im tied to time is another cliche you say
when you just want to get away

Playtime leisure time daytime nightime
all this time that you are mine

As sure as nightime follows day
time is always ticking away

Haiku Number Two

Two hearts blended
Together on the love seat sharing
their hopes and dreams.

Pottery Jug

Pottery jugs big and small
Flowers in abundance one and all.

Sometimes roses, lillies too,
Daisies white with a yellow hue

Birthdays weddings, anniversaries too
out comes the gug both bright and blue

To house the flowers sent by you.

A Mothers Love

A hug a kiss, a loving smile
Tears wiped away when I cry.

A hand to hold and entertwine
lovingly with mine.

A mothers love is unconditional
no strings attached, no price to pay

Love given freely everyday
