I Hate Winter

I Hate Winter

I hate the cold.
Just don’t like ….
Being outside in 10 degrees or below,
Because I get so cold.
    It shivers up my spine.

I hate the snow.
Just don’t like ….
When there’s two feet of snow or more
It’s always so deep; even up to my knees.
It doesn’t make walking any easier.

I hate the ice.
Just don’t like ….
Slipping and falling all the time.
Too many bruises, painful to touch.
    Would only ache for weeks;
Seem to take forever to go away.

I hate the wind.
Just don’t like ….
The ferocious, howling wind,
Pushing me around, with tossled hair in my face,
As I’m being whisked away, as light as a feather
To some unknown place
    I don’t want to be.
Oh! God forbid!

I hate the cold, snow, ice and wind altogether.
There is not one single thing that I enjoy
Experiencing the harsh and brutal effects of winter.
Makes my life so miserable
    And unbearable.

I wish I could hibernate
    And come out at spring.
Being inside during winter
    Is the best feeling ever….
I feel the warmth,
    I feel safe,
And especially,
    I feel the love
That surrounds me
From my family and friends.

Amelia

As the sun shines so brightly
    I am always playing cheerfully

Makes me realize that I have grown into
    An energetic personality I can call my own;

Excited about being close to Mommy & Daddy
    They're so special!
        Playing with my sister
And even looking for a seashell.

Listening to my heart and soul
When expressing my feelings in art
         Or whatever I like to do;

I live in a world of happiness and joy,
    Of confidence & determination
        That special glow;

Always surrounded by the love
That I have come to know.

Audrey

Always wrapped in my arms
with hugs that just come naturally

Unique in your very own special way
    with that spectacular flair
Delightful dazzling dances, and to be so daring
    with those acrobatic stunts

Really silly laughter of giggles
that are a constant flow of joy

Everyday the love that you bring into my life
    will last forever....because

You are "My Little Sunshine"!

Samii's Favorite Toy

Since she was three months old,
Samii just loves to be with her toy mouse.

The thick black fabric that was once a shoulder pad of a jacket
Was stitched and embroidered by me with tender-loving care,
And transformed into a toy mouse that has become her special friend.

She drags her toy everywhere, from the kitchen to the family room,
To the bedroom, and even, to the bathroom.

As Samii lays on the sofa, she savors those caressing licks
Against the fabric filled with catnip.
She just adores that toy mouse!

Sometimes she plays so rough with her claws extended,
And nuzzles with such vigor.
But when she lays on the kitchen floor,
Absolutely no one can touch her toy mouse at all.
Since she's so intoxicated by that aroma of catnip d'or.

For the past ten years, I've watched Samii sleep with her toy mouse
Between her paws, or otherwise, right along side her.
I can tell that she just adores that toy mouse!

And even if she has a morsel to eat,
Samii always returns to her toy mouse wherever it may be.

My Joyful Heart

You dance so gracefully,
Like a ballerina practicing her pirouettes,
Ribbons flowing from your lovely long hair.

You are the angel in my life.
Your sentimental tears flow so softly to touch,
Don't cry, my dear, I'd rather see your smile.
It makes me so happy to be with you.
You will be by my side, Always & Forever!

The warmth, the joy & the happiness we share
But most of all, being with you
Means truly everything in this world!

You are the love of my life.
No one could ever be like you.
For you are the essence of my heart.

Your vibrant personality,
   Your energy & your charisma
Shines through everything you do
   And everything that surrounds you.
You are my angel Always & Forever!

Maia Rose

To enjoy in the delight
   Of trying new tastes
While having fun....
   Oh, My! What a sight!

To play in tops & shorts,
No matter if there's shoes or not....
It's the pretty lacey pink dresses
With a bow or a rose
That will stay so delicate!

For "A Little Sweetie"
   Who's just about to arrive
Bound for Lots of Love & Affection....
   It was meant to be
A special place to call your very own!

To hear the laughter
Of catching bubbles in the air
Or blowing them as they pop....
   You will become squeaky clean
Just like a bright new shiny penny!

So nice & warm
   Snuggled in the arms
Of Mommy & Daddy
As she hears a lullaby or story
A little Princess will fall asleep....
That special bond will last forever!

What Autumn Means To Me

As I walk along the pathway
   I feel the warmth
Of the sun’s rays,
I start to notice my surroundings
Of leaves and their many different shapes.

Trees start to change their color
Into bright red, orange, and golden yellow
And even purple leaves
   Which scatter all around
Forming an intricate mosaic pattern.

Reminiscing about my childhood
   I recall how I enjoyed
Sitting among the large heaps of leaves
   On the front lawn,
Munching on a handful of pumpkin seeds.

And my German Shepherd dogs,
   Tasha and Rex,
Would romp through the leaves
   And bark with excitement,
“Come play with me!”

But there is always hope…
   “An Indian Summer”
That lasts until the end of October.
   This always brightens my day.
It is a joy
   To be surrounded
By the warmth of the sun,
That penetrates the inner core of your being,
Which makes your personality come alive,
   A moment of self-expression,
You can cherish.

However, as times passes by,
   The sun begins to fade,
Just as the leaves turn to brown and wither away.
   Summer is behind us,
As autumn creates that omnipotent breeze,
The weather changes to dark and dreary,
The presence of everlasting harsh snowstorms
Which we all endure in the winter months.

I look forward to the “first day of spring”
…Chirping of the birds at play,
Within the trees and bushes.
    …Watching in delight and amazement
The squirrels and chipmunks and their antics.
And the glorious days will return
Full of sunshine, warmth, and vitality.

Green Hills of O'Ireland

In the wilderness of the greenest hills
   Where tall black trees
Overhang the surroundings
   One finds the atmosphere
Like a person
Living on the top of a hill in O'Ireland.

The trees' leaves drooping
   Over each slimy vine
Makes the house
   Look like
An antique mansion
   In the horizon
Beyond the green hills
   Full of colorful trees.

One can discover that the environment so calm
   In its peaceful woodsy breeze
Sitting beneath the dark shade
   Of an enormous tree
As you look up into the clear blue sky
Full of immense white puffy clouds.

I Love You, My Sweetheart

As I lay in heat from the sun's rays at noon
I recall our special moment together....

I feel the warmth....
The warmth that penetrates from your body to mine
Uniting us as one.

This feeling envelopes my entire being
Surrounded in a world of beautiful and wonderful things.

Your enduring embrace
As we kiss throughout the night,
Our lips so soft,
As the delicate petals of a rose
That everlasting kiss.

As you caress my body
   With your warm, tender fingertips
I melt in your arms from your sensuous touch.

As we embrace each other
   Our hearts beat as one.
Became rhythm in sync
That was music for ours to keep.

Forever I will always love you
For it was meant to be you and me.

Kitties Don'T Eat Broccoli

My calico Samii
   Has a unique personality
But her peculiar eating habits
   Deeply amazes me.

Whenever I have dinner
Steak, Delmonico potatoes, broccoli and salad,
Samii always gets into the act
   Before I even get started.
I hardly notice anything wrong
   Or should I say....missing!

And then my steak starts to disappear,
   "Oh, Samii, how could you?
But kitties don't eat broccoli!
Well, I'm not going to discard the rest
Just because of you. I have to eat, too!"

Even her actions speak louder than words
Samii hops upon my portable washer,
Nudges my cheek,
   And stretched out her paw
To grab a morsel of of steak off my plate.

She lets out an echoing meow:
"Give me a piece, please, please...."
One cannot resists, and eventually,
I give in to her annoying request.
Then, of course she wants another piece.

When I have pina colada in a cup for dessert
   I usually leave an inch
Just for Samii
   Otherwise, she'll meow:
"What about me?"

Her outrageous behavior
   Makes me laugh so much
That I now enjoy
   Watching her crazy antics.
Samii sticks her paw in the cup
To scoop up the pina colada
And then licks it off her paw.
   She savors every single lick.

Her satisfied taste for my food
   Apparently is much better
Than her catnip d'or.
