Rush

One minute

That is all I have before the wave of oblivion crashes over me
And force its salt crusted lips onto my mouth
Giving me a watery kiss of death
Should I run?
Or would it be as useless as putting a grain of sand in the desert?

Forty-five seconds

The wave swells with power as my thoughts swell with uncertainty
I decide that my feet
(Still burning from electricity)
Will revive and be moved

Right

Left

Right

Left

Thirty seconds

It was almost here, I thought
Almost here
The angry wave was foaming,
Tall as the Empire State, leaning like the Pisa,
My heart crumbling like the Coliseum
Yet my walking turns to running

Fifteen seconds

I finally forced my eyes
(Still blurry from adrenaline)
To stare at the welcoming safety of the forest

right left right left right left right

I could not hear the impact of my foot and the dirt
As my ears have been washed out by the roaring seas

Ten seconds

I devoured the salty taste of the ocean's spit,
Causing my open wounds to sizzle

9

Crash!

8

I need to get up, I need to-

7

-move, but my body melted to the ground

6

I am too late

5

He found me

4

I swallowed my last supper; the ocean breeze

3

Poseidon's body crashes on my flesh

2

As I stare at the cerulean; endless in my burning eyes

1

I dissolve
