Never a Reason

As if this was all by chance
And not so much a cosmic joke
All that will be began it's dance
All else just a thought unspoke
Time drags forever on it seems
An illusion made believe is so
Nightmares once thought as dreams
Alas like much we think we know
A fading glow from a dying flame
This imprisonment of living life
But in the end a forgotten name
You'll be as dust and so will I
Scattered ashes in a perfect storm
Not worth mention if ever asked
Just killing time if ever born
If a joke who's laughing last?
Never a care yet running blind
Not a glance before the leap
No risk so bold was ever kind
To spare a soul never yours to keep
Wasting time till your time is up
I was so blind yet now I see
No lesson learned ever mattered much
While having never a reason to be

A Warning of Impermanence

Sing me a song of significance
One in need of skill to vocalize
A ballad commanding reverence
And draws a tear to the eye
Tell me a tale of relevance
Like an epic seldom heard
Be sure to mind your eloquence
Make me believe in every word
Recite a poem with elegance
One of your very own design
Just speak it without hesitance
And it needn't be in rhyme
Paint me a scene of opulence
One surely of master's hand
Without a hint of ambivalence
Of a shipwreck in the sand
Just live a life of rememberance
Make wise use of fleeting time
I warn of life's impermanence
Do more with yours than I with mine
