My Love

My Love

I miss the way you held me tight,

Through stormy days and dark of night.

The heat of your body close to me,

Sheltering as an anchient tree.

Come hold me close, sit down, please stay.

Can you tell me what you need?

Reveal the questions that you hide?

Share with me just how you feel.

Tell me your worries and your thoughts,

Please talk to me, open your soul to me.

There were days when you needed me,

Days when you touched me, wanted me.

Where have our special times gone?

For these things my spirit longs.

Take me into your arms, love me

Hold me close to your heart, I plea.

I need to know that you still care

To show me how much you are aware,

Of the feelings I have for you, Feelings that will always be.

Ode To Snow

Ode to Snow

From the cloudy sky

It floats softly down,

Drifting silently by

Quickly blankets the ground.

On skeletal tree limbs and evergreen boughs

Covering dead leaves and pine cones,

As thick as weight will allow

The arms of branches take the burden now.

It dances on errant breezes

Or flies swiftly to the side,

The wind will carry it where it pleases

Coming down heavy now, spreading far and wide.

I walk among its chilliness

And wonder if it knows,

That it brings me such happiness

The peacefullness of snow.

Soon spring will come upon the land

Winter storm clouds will part,

Drifty mountains once so grand

Will quickly start to melt.

Then rain will wash the snow away

Rebirth of blossoms, new growing grass

Summer flies quickly by, Autumn seems only a day

All too soon the stormy snow clouds will amass.

Freedom

I am standing on the the soft white sand of a beautiful beach, the water so blue it brings tears to my eyes.
A soft gentle breeze tossles my hair.
In my hand I hold a single, bright , shiny, blue balloon.
I look out across the water; the swells of the waves.
Today I think , I am going to fly .
I am going to soar out across that water, feel the freedom, smell the salty water as the sprays dampen my face.
I am truly going to fly.
A smile tugs the corners of my mouth.
I look at the bright blue balloon again and I calmly ask it, "Are you ready?"
"Are you ready to soar, my friend?"
In answer, it tugs gently in my hand.
"Well what are we waiting for?"
I give a hop.
Nothing, hmm..
I jog forward and give a little hop.
Nothing...
Well.
I burst forward, running and jump as high as I can.
Nothing.
Disappointment fills me.
I drop my head and slowly, with balloon in tow, I begin to walk down the white sandy beach.
The blue balloon again, tugs in my hand.
"We can't do it" I tell it , "It wont work.".
Then, with a smile, I say "We can do it can't we?"
I lift my arm high in the air, the ballloon tugging harder and harder.
Slowly I let my fingers open and watch as my friend starts to lift upward into the beautiful sky.
With a sigh, I close my eyes.
The picture of my blue friend fills my mind.
I spread my arms wide and with him I soar.
Freedom.

Childhood

Memories of an innocent child

Days of play and running wild

Soft green grass tickles small bare feet

Racing through the weeds so fast and fleet

Laughing, giggling just having fun

Dancing beneath a golden sun

Joyful voices raised in glee

Brother and sisters surrounding me

Another summer game has begun.

Carefree childhood days and sleepy, moonlit nights

Catching grasshoppers and chasing fireflies lights

Laying in the warm sweet grass

Making pictures in the clouds that pass

Far away from cares and frights.

Summers weather soft and mild.

Lessons learned in summer, far away from school

Where to find a mushroom or a trout in a cool, deep pool

Constellations in the nights dark sky

Did Daddy ever tire of hearing "why"?

Worn out at night, we laughed like fools

The exhausted, slept until the new warm sun opened our eyes.

Frightening

Feelings of terror

Rooms of confinement

I keep trying to forget

Giving myself, my love

Hold me, secure me

Thoughts of aloneness

Entwined in a black, quiet place

Night comes to me, I need to escape

Ignore the fears, deeply hidden

Nothingness is a safe place

Go inside yourself, alone and silent

I Smelled Autumn Today

I smelled Autumn today, on the leaves that swiftly blew away.
On this partly-cloudy sunny day.
On this blooming wild flower day.
On the rain-moist dirt roads, on cloud-reflecting puddles.
On the ripening crop fields and the plump summer fed deer.
On the snakes coiled and quiet on the sun-warmed road.
On the storms rolling in.
On this chill feeling wind.
On the shushing trees full of leaf-touched winds, carrying the honking sound of flying geese and the throaty wild turkey clucks.
On the purple alfalfa.
On the sun, muted yellow.
On the whitetail buck with his snorts and his bellow.
On the smells of sweet berries, wild apples and warm horses.
On the air whirling and blowing,
from dark tree-lined footpaths,
through golden sun-warmed wild grasses,
along moist and wooded river banks
and dancing along forest deer-trail passes.
On the fragrant breeze that gently tousles my hair.
I smell Autumn everywhere.
It makes me smile.

The Thought of You

His eyes are pools of autumn fire
An intense gaze, of which I never tire.
To drown in their depths a pleasant death
He comes in closer, I loose my breath.
Our pulses quicken, skin tingles, a live wire.

The touch of his hand upon my skin
As he looks into my eyes, my thoughts are a sin.
Taking me into his strong arms, he holds me
Even in his tight embrace, I feel so free.
The beat of his heart, is my hearts twin.

His breathy voice, whispered into my ear
The sound of it excites me, brings me near.
The thoughts in my head, vivid imagination
The feelings for him a strong fascination.
To loose him now is my only fear.

The future is an unknown mystery
Will I always be alone, will he come to me?
With him close to my side I will be complete
The sight of him, his touch, will be so sweet.
Whatever he wants, whatever he needs...I will be.
